Titans | White involved in brawl Published Thu Aug 10 2:28:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, report Tennessee Titans RB LenDale White and S Donnie Nickey sparked a brawl Thursday, Aug. 10. Nickey said White spit on him after a play, to which several other defenders agreed. Shortly later, White was knocked out of bounds by Nickey after a pass. White then elbowed S Vincent Fuller and several other defenders, including Nickey, jumped in. Head coach Jeff Fisher called Nickey's hit a "cheap shot" and told the players to leave it on the field

That lard-###, good for nothing thug. Who does he think he is? I see Maurice Clarrett written all over him!

Safety got tired of being knocked on his ### so he throws a late hit.

White, because he's young, spits on him because it was obviously unfair.

Tickle me careless.

I'd say the fact that he took on 7 defenders without backing down either a) shows you the fire he has, or b) shows you just how non-intimidating that Titans D is this year.

I was mad when the guy ahead of me took him and left me with Deangelo Williams, it is looking more and more like I dodged a bullet.

wow, you're defending Lendale White?color me

White spit, Nickey got his cheap shot in, it was all taken care of on the field end of story.

All anyone should care about is that White is on the field practicing. It is much easier to project the Titans backfield with a gimpy White then with the three headed monster they got going right now.

Ultimately I think the more White practices and the more Brown b#####s for a trade the better it is for all of us.

It's a nonissue. Guys get in skirmmishes all the time in TC. It's because they get sick of going up against each other twice a day all preseason.Who cares? So a slow, third string safety was mad because LenDale White was ruining his chances to make the team.. why is this newsworthy? We're talkin about practice. Not a game. Practice.

The story is:

1. White spit on the DB first after a clean tackle.

2. During a play later on, the DB made a late hit on White which instigated a hit back from White and a short brawl.

I agree that the late hit followed by a retaliatory hit and a brawl is not much. But the initial spitting incident is not to be taken lightly. I suspect Fisher, behind closed doors will talk to the rook.

If you watch a lot of games, you can see that a lot of crap is tolerated in games, but being spit on is one that is not. It is a big sign of disrespect. And disrespect of your teammates is a NO NO.

It will all blow over, but not until Fisher chews on White a little behind closed doors.

big time tool = Sean Taylor

The last player to spit on another player was Bill Romanowski. We can therefore deduce that LenDale White will have a 16 year career that includes multiple Super Bowl victories. Draft accordingly.

Reading comprehension down?

the big difference here is he spit on his OWN teammate. guess he figured if he couldnt be reggie bush, he could at least be bush-league

The way I read it White spit on the safety and in retaliation the safety cheap shot him the next chance he got. White is a sorry worthless piece of crap. Why doesn't he slap a woman or push a small child down while he is at it.

:goodposting:Anyone who's ever played football knows that this type of stuff goes on all the time. I broke our starting QB's leg in practice during the Oklahoma drill. Football is a man's sport. It was only alleged that White spit on this player. Could've been the result of a slobber-knocker. Sometimes you can't control your bodily functions when you deliver a big hit. Yes, I just typed that. :bag:Show me the fire!

alleged spit ;)

The other guy took his helmet off and swung it at LW's head. Fisher was all over him after that. They have a clip on Total Access tonight.

i like lendale's spirit.
Throwing a punch or shoving someone after a cheap shot is showing "spirit".Spitting on them is showing immaturity and no-class. (see Bill Romanowski)I don't know much about White, but, after showing up for pre-draft tryouts out of shape, and now seeing his little spitting episode, my early impression of him is less than flattering.

There's a big difference between getting into a scuffle, and spitting on someone. If I were a coach and one of my players, a rookie no less, spit on someone they'd be sitting on the the sidelines for a week of practice/games, at the very least.

Does anyone else smell a conspiracy here? Personally, I think the "second spitter" theory may have some merit...

Maybe, just maybe, White didnt spit on him, maybe he was talking some smack and just let a lil fly. The slow 3rd string safety should have been two steps earlier then the hit "out of bounds" would have been clean. Either way you gotta love seeing a defense playing angry and a kid trying to make himself known early....

Spitting on a player is intolerable and he should be fined, but the biggest fine should go to the guy taking off his helmet and swinging at LW's head. Talk about bush league, if you are man enough to take a cheap shot, be man enough to fight the guy fairly.

The concerning thing is that none of the offensive players jumped in to help him out, it was basically 1 blue shirt in a sea of white shirts with punches being thrown.

Why is everyone flipping out over this? I think it's great. Shows the chip is firmly planted on White's shoulder. Big year to come...

how does spitting on a teamate mean that you're out to prove people wrong?I can understand the camp that says to not make a big deal out of this; I cannot understand the camp that views this as a positive thing.

:goodposting: Disrespecting a fellow teammate is never positive. Acting like a 3 year old when you're having a bad camp, a bad 8 months, etc, is not a positive. Probably doesn't mean much, but Zadok must be a White owner to spin this that way.

More on the Fight

Interesting Fisher comment:

"I didn't know everything, but there's stuff that goes on out there that shouldn't have gone on out there. Donnie understands, and LenDale understands he crossed the line. You just don't do that. It will not happen again. I assure you it will not happen again," Fisher said.

So, according to that statement by Fisher, kind of sounds like LenDale did spit......seems they are downplaying it though. I love the "I assure you it will not happen again". It better not. Maybe LenDale should jam a piece of cake in his mouth during practice so he can't spit. That was a tool move......

:goodposting: #### Butkus would spit in a guys face every chance he could get. LOL at some of these anti-Lendale posts. :lmao:

Totally agree. It would have been one thing if White was playing aggressive football and started a fight becuase he made a late hit or something. But spitting in a teamates face, I just don't see how this can be viewed as a good thing.

lmao @ "because he's young." I'm pretty sure he's not 6, but somewhere in his 20s. How about"White, because he's incredibly immature and a moron, spits on him." I wonder if he stomped all the way back to the lockerroom with a big pouty face too.

I doubt #### Butkus spit in his own teammates face. By the way mods there appears to be a flaw in your system when you can't type in a guys name witout it getting censored.

Hoping to be...It shows he has fire in his belly - not that spitting at people is ok - but that he won't be bullied.

Then get in a rough and tumble then. Spitting is for b#####s.

Someone clarify for me...

How does spitting on your teammates affect your chances of nailing own the starting RB job as a rookie??

LenDale "Big Baby ... owwwie my toe/hamstring/ego/USC ring finger hurts" White

Maybe this guy is the 2006 version of Eric Shelton.

Spitting = soft? Hah, tell that to the defenders of the 40's-80's. Television has curtailed this sort of behavior, but it still exists, and it has nothing to do with how manly, or tough a man is. What comes before/after the spitting is what counts. Put me in the camp who doesn't care.
