Leon Washington could start camp on PUP list (1 Viewer)

Seahawks GM John Schneider did not rule out the possibility of Leon Washington (compound leg fracture) starting training camp on the "physically unable to perform" list.

If Washington does start camp on PUP, it means he can rehab and attend meetings but can't practice. He can come off the list at any time during camp. The key here is that a player on the camp PUP list is eligible to be placed on the Reserve PUP list once the season starts. That would keep Washington out of the first six weeks of the season. The Seahawks won't know if that will be necessary for awhile, but it's another reminder that LenDale White and Justin Forsett will likely be the main backs to start the season. May. 27 - 1:03 pm et

A lot of players start training camp on the PUP list. I would not read much of anything into this as of right now. It allows teams the ability to evaluate more players.

Leon has this reputation somehow of being a stud... I don't understand this at all. He was only ever going to be a possible flex position player and now they have 2 other backs on the team they can use.

I personally think it speaks to the fact that he is not a necessary member of the team for them currently. I am very down on him.

I wouldn't want him on my team. I wouldn't be surprised if he is never heard from again.

This is true - although given the nature of his injury the concerns I think are well founded. It's one of the reasons the Jets were ok to let him go. They didn't want to be dealing with a potential contract situation for a guy who was hurt and possibly not coming back the same.Too early to panic but food for thought.

I don't know that his reputation is that of a stud; I think he's more of known as an explosive player who can score from anywhere on the field. And that's what I think he was pre-injury. He was never going to be a bellcow, but he was a dynamic player who many wanted to see get the ball more often to see what he could handle.

Reminds me of Jerrious Norwood... I just personally feel he was vastly over rated. It's only my opinion, and I know many liked him as you say. I'm just making the point that he wasn't going to be a bellcow as you say anyway. Now with a slimmed Lendale and an electric little RB on the same team I see no reason at all for optimism. He probably was never going to see your lineup anyway and now if he starts on PUP I think that says a ton about his value. (which I already thought was very low) If he was on my team I'd take anything I could get in trade.

Titansfan says "I wouldn't be surprised if he is never heard from again". NFL stats say Washington gained 2,317 all purpose yards in 2008, more than any other running back in the NFL.

I'm not expecting a return to that level of production but his injury was a broken leg, not any kind ligament damage. So to say he is done, not so much. Seattle has lacked an explosive offensive weapon for years from any spot on the offense/special teams. And with PC at coach you know he knows how to use a Reggie Bush type weapon. I wouldn't consider him for big fantasy numbers anytime soon but he's definitely going to be a big part of what the Hawks do going forward especially in the return game. If I played in PPR+return ydg leagues, he would be a big time target.

I'd actually worry more about a fracture than ligament damage. Especially one so severe. Ligament damage is easily fixable with modern technology. It was just a few years ago that a dynamic WR for Alabama had a bad compound fracture and ended his career. If those bones don't heal right, he's done.

If ligaments don't heal right, they are done too. Advances in medical technology happen in all facets of the human body.

Forsett is looking better and BETTER. Let's hope the hype train doesn't make him a whole lot more expensive. He could be a nice value in the 6th round.
