LeSean McCoy broken rib (1 Viewer)

http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/news_detai...t-vs-49ers.html

Eagles head coach Andy Reid said Monday that running back LeSean McCoy - who ranks seventh in the NFL with 445 net yards of offense - suffered a broken rib in the second quarter of the Eagles' 17-12 loss to the Redskins Sunday.

Behind McCoy, the Eagles have only Mike Bell - who has been a big disappointment so far with a 1.7 per-carry average on 12 carries - rarely used Eldra Buckley (who committed a costly fumble on his only touch of the 2010 season) and rookie free agent Joique Bell, who has never played in an NFL game.

"(McCoy) obviously is playing at a very high level right now," Reid said. "He had quite a few yards yesterday and had some nice plays. But we also have confidence that Mike can get in there and play, if needed."

Reid said McCoy was undergoing tests on Monday and could possibly play against the 49ers wearing some sort of protective padding.

"We just have to see," he said. "Really it's a comfort thing."

McCoy apparently played much of the game Sunday with a broken rib. He caught 12 passes - third-most in Eagles history - for 110 yards and added 64 rushing yards.

"He played through it and really didn't complain at all," Reid said. "He's a pretty tough kid."

A league source said the Bills contacted the Eagles Monday to gauge their interest in veteran Marshawn Lynch, a former Pro Bowl tailback who rushed for 1,000 yards in 2007 and 2008 but has fallen out of favor in Buffalo.

But the source said the Eagles were not seriously considering acquiring Lynch, who could cost as much as a third-round pick.

any update on when he will return?
Game Time decision it looks like McCoy: 'We'll See'

LeSean McCoy said today "whatever I can do to get out there and play, I'll do," but McCoy sounded like he wants to see more improvement in his cracked rib before he is sure he'll be on the field Sunday at San Francisco.

McCoy, whose 445 total yards rank fifth among NFL running backs, said he's never had an injury that caused him to miss a game.

"We'll see what happens," said McCoy, who sat out today's practice, along with concussion victims Riley Cooper and Asante Samuel and quarterback Michael Vick, who has cracked rib cartilage that probably will keep him out a week or two, at least. Eagles coach Andy Reid indicated he expects to have Cooper and Samuel in San Francisco.

"It's hard to really tell right now, so we'll find out," McCoy said. He finished Sunday's game after suffering the injury; he gave contradictory information on eaxctly when it happened, but he said he didn't tell head ahtletic trainer Rick Burkholder until after the game.

I think Mccoy plays. If the injury was bad they would have looked more at Lynch. Just my Opinion
I hope your right if not I have to go with MIKE BELL which is scary but maybe just maybe Bell will get lots of dumpoffs from kolb seeing thats all he can throw... If Mccoy is able to go I think he has a ton of receptions... hopin bell can sneak a goalline td or 2 also....

Seems like it would be tough to hold onto the bill with a broken rib and a flak jacket.

Lol in one of my $250 WCOFF format leagues someone spent $50 of their $100 ww budget on Mike Bell. Someone else spent $50 on Keiland Williams the week Torain got the PT.

Saw a report this evening that McCoy was called a "full go" by the Eagles staff. Still not sure I want to trust him do a whole lot tomorrow.

Come Sunday night in San Francisco, the Eagles will have some new starters, old starters and surprise starters. The lineup shakeup never seems to end with this team, whether it's injury or just another coach's decision (See Moise Fokou and Brandon Graham).

The new/old faces in the starting lineup will be quarterback Kevin Kolb, running back LeSean McCoy, right guard Max Jean-Gilles, cornerback Joselio Hanson, defensive end Juqua Parker and strongside linebacker Moise Fokou. Notable absences will be quarterback Michael Vick (rib) and cornerback Asante Samuel (concussion). Reserve wide receiver Riley Cooper (concussion) will also not make the trip to San Francisco.

McCoy is listed as questionable after breaking a rib last week, but is expected to play. He plans on wearing a flak jacket and hasn't yet decided if he's going to receive a cortisone injection before the game to reduce the pain. The Eagles intend to use their burgeoning starting running back similar to the first four weeks, when he shouldered a heavy workload.

"LeSean McCoy practiced the whole practice [Friday] and felt pretty good," head coach Andy Reid said. "So, I’m anticipating that he’ll be able to play the full game and do what he needs to do there.”

Even though McCoy played the entire second half last Sunday with the broken rib, it's not going to be easy shrugging off hits as he has in the past. McCoy had 28 touches last week with the Eagles' quarterbacks often relegated to checking the ball down to the running backs.

"There is going to be some pain, but that comes with the territory," McCoy said. "In this type of business, this type of game, guys will be banged up."
