I know there has to be a thread somewhere about this but here is the problem. Some friends of mine are arguing over who should go #2 if we are lucky enough to get the chance to pick there. FBG magazine says SJAX (this is a PPR league, BTW), but heres my arguement. Last year LJ had a good year but many who had him would say they expected more. His starting QB was gone from week 1, he struggled the 1st couple of weeks yet he still manages 19td's. Now I know about the contract thing and the new/old QB, but if 19 is a let down what could his upside be?

I had SJAX last year and was pleasantly surprised with his totals. In my league (PPR) he has good value with his skills but he only put up 16td's in a season that I think will be hard for him to reproduce.

I guess the question here is who would you take with that pick? Not asking for advice, just for arguments sake. If LJ goes into training camp as a holdout then it's a no-brainer but I just think the upside might be higher with LJ.

In ppr leagues, it's the person with the number one pick that should be deciding about who to take between LT and SJ. After all, in ppr leagues SJ had 87% of LT's fantasy production in 2006 with only half as many TDs. Since LT's TDs were an all time NFL record and TDs in general are less likely to be indicative of future FF production, I would say that there's more of a drop off in ppr leagues from #2 to #3, not #1 to #2.

Do I think Steven Jackson will repeat 90 receptions? No, probably more like 70-75.

Do I think Steven Jackson will repeat 16 TDs? No, probably more like 21-24.

Do I think Tomlinson will repeat 31 TDs? No, probably more like 24-28.

That said, I'd still take LT with the number one pick.

PPR - no brainer, SJAX. LJ's legs may fall off (if he shows up to camp).

Regular - Frank Gore. Yep, he's here to stay as a stud RB.

with the #2 pick in the 2007 FF draft Pantherclub selects Joseph Addai of the Indy Colts.

:)
