Let's Talk About Handcuffs (1 Viewer)

Just a general topic. Which back-ups are worth a roster spot over others? There are some good ones out there:

Kenton Keith, Correll Buckhalter, Kenny Watson, Selvin Young, Jason Wright.

Which, if any, do you hold onto and give a roster spot to?

Since I have owned Westbrrok for three years in a row now, I knew during my auction that i had to own Buckhalter

As an Addai owner, i thought about picking up Kenton Keith the very first play of the season, but i didn't until week 3

And now this week, I picked up Jason Wright.

I dont usually make a habbit out of handcuffing RBs, but with Westbrook, Addai and Jama Lewis as my only 3 RBs, I had to do something.

I dont have them as handcuffs, but I picked up Keith and Watson, and someone else has picked up Leonard and Young. No one bothered to pick up Wright.

It's all roster size dependent, but I would think in a 15-16 man roster league, the following backs should be cuffed:

Ward, Keith, Betts, Buckhalter, Turner, C. Taylor, A. Hall, J. Fargas, and L. Washington. All should be quality fantasy starters if opportunity knocks.

I have LT + Burner, ADP + CT, and KJ for byes. Needless to say I'm set for the entire season and I'm all set if anything happens to LT or ADP.

:o

The key for me is whether or not the handcuff will be utilized in the same manner as the primary, and if they're at least talented enough to thrive in that offense. Ask anyone who backed up Kevin Jones last year with Arlen Harris . Or even Maurice Morris after Alexander went down. Some teams just completely abandon the run when they lose their starter. The only guys I would seriously make an attempt to own as a handcuff are Turner, Bennett, Keith, Betts and Buckhalter.

As a Portis and Westbrook owner I feel owning both Buckhater and Betts is pretty important. They both are 2nd fiddle to injury prone guys and have proved they can produce already in RB friendly systems.

I also have Priest Holmes but it's just filling a roster spot for now.
