Tough decision for him. Its probably the smartest thing to do for his future/career, but at what cost?Anybody want to hazard a guess as to whether Silas Redd bails for USC?

Don't get me wrong, I want Redd to stay...I want them all to stay...but if they don't want to stay, let 'em go and good riddance. I'll feel a lot better about rooting for a team of guys who are loyal to PSU, win or lose, than guys who at the end of the day I feel are just trying to get to the NFL or there b/c of no other options, or are playing out this season to transfer next. If the relationships with the school/students/teammates mean nothing to you after playing there for a season or two, leave. I walked into Beaver Stadium as a fan and after that point, I was a Nittany Lion fan come better or worse.Tough decision for him. After a full day of BOB on ESPN, tickets might go quick. Dude's definitely a baller. And I just booked a room for the Temple game. It's time for the alum to stop defending the old regime or complaining about the sanctions. We are now going to support the coach and the players who elect to stay and realize what Penn State Pride truly is all about.

God bless 'em. That's the kind of kid I want to root for...win or lose. There's not a PSU fan in Beaver Stadium who will boo these kids for losing this year. There's not a fan who won't cheer for them for electing to stay when given the opportunity to go elsewhere...I worry more about recruiting than anything else as those guys don't have the loyalty built up yet.Stephon Morris @ 12_darKnightWe have chosen to stay at PSU & other opposing coaches are outside our apartment. Was that the intentions of the NCAA # LeaveUsAlone # WeAre
Hackenburg and Breneman are the keys. Dont know much about Hack, but Breneman is a really solid kid from a really solid family who really wants to play for BOB. Id be shocked if he leaves (unless of course everyone bails).God bless 'em. That's the kind of kid I want to root for...win or lose. I definitely agree. I was worried losing Douglas was the start of a wave of de-commits...every day that goes by is one step in the right direction.Hackenburg and Breneman are the keys. Agreed. Hard to believe any Jr or Soph that stays around would leave after this season for 1-2 years somewhere else, for the most part at least.I think even in 2013-2014, the real damage will be from the recruiting impact. I think guys who are already there will have already drank enough of the "PSU coolaid" to want to stay...there are obvious exceptions. I think Rob Bolden is on the first bus out of town. He's been unhappy since BEFORE this.
All I know is that 4 star CB recruit left for Michigan. Im guessing he's Douglas based on Nick's post. What are the rumors on who is staying/going anyway? Or is it too early? I'm not on other messsage-boards etc for college football.
His playing situation at psu hasnt really changed though unless a bowl game is supposed to raise his draft stock. Was anybody else noticably missing today?'Time Kibitzer said:Silas Redd would be foolish not to go elsewhere imo, he needs to make himself as attractive of an NFL prospect as possible, and he'll be hard pressed to do that at Penn State this year. Having said that, given the amount of competition for carries he'd have at USC I don't think that'd be the best place for him either.
Nothing has changed about this years team. It future teams that could be affected by the lack of scholarships.'Time Kibitzer said:Silas Redd would be foolish not to go elsewhere imo, he needs to make himself as attractive of an NFL prospect as possible, and he'll be hard pressed to do that at Penn State this year. Unless he can find a team in the SEC that will let him start immediately, and isnt terrible and hurts his numbers, he'll be facing the best defensive competition he can in the B10 as well. His playing situation at psu hasnt really changed though unless a bowl game is supposed to raise his draft stock.'Time Kibitzer said:Silas Redd would be foolish not to go elsewhere imo, he needs to make himself as attractive of an NFL prospect as possible, and he'll be hard pressed to do that at Penn State this year. I dont believe any of these kids are leaving because of the impacts of the sanctions levied against PSU. Just a chance for a "re-do" on the recruiting process for players that are either buried on the depth chart or have significantly raised their stock since HS (Redd), without having to worry about any of the consequences. Other than Redd, none of these hurt the team too bad. PSU should push to have the scholorship reduction begin this year. We'll probably be near it anyway. Here's a list of transfers I've cobbled together (to the best of my knowledge):(JR) Silas Redd - RB to USC(JR) Anthony Fera - PK to Texas(JR) Rob Bolden - QB to LSU (no loss there)(JR) Khairi Fortt - LB to Cal(True FR) Jamil Pollard - DT to Rutgers(JR) Kevin Haplea - TE to Florida State(Redshirt FR) Ryan Nowicki - OL to Illinois(Redshirt FR) Tim Buckley - S to NC StateJustin Brown is thinking about transferring; his likely destination would be Oklahoma.
I'd have to disagree with you there...losing 8 - 10 players off of a team is bad no matter who they are because it eats away at your depth. I am a Wisconsin fan, and if we had 8 players transfer in a week, no matter who they were, it would weaken the team. Also, as with any football team there are going to injuries, these are 8 - 10 guys who are not going to be around to stave that off, and you essentially will be forced to play walk ons in some situations.Additionally, there is no way the penalties are being modified, so you might as well forget that. You guys have a tough road ahead of you, I don't wish any more ill will on your program, but man...you are going to see some tough times.I dont believe any of these kids are leaving because of the impacts of the sanctions levied against PSU. that a school as good as LSU actually wanted Bolden....then again, I actually still like Bolden more than McGroin
It's a free scholarship to look at him (plus whatever they paid him under the table I guess).Yeah, Brown leaving would not be good but the rest that already left dont really matter besides Redd, obviously.that a school as good as LSU actually wanted Bolden....then again, I actually still like Bolden more than McGroin

ETA: It's interesting how quiet the other threads got once folks saw the impact of the NCAA getting involved. Nothing good came of it just like several of us were saying.Losing Fortt will hurt the depth on defense - he was expected to see more time this year. Fera's loss could hurt depending on what kind of kicker they find to replace him. When he was out for the first three games last year the kicking game stunk out loud.I dont believe any of these kids are leaving because of the impacts of the sanctions levied against PSU. Here's a statement from Gregory J. Myford, Penn State's associate athletic director of business relations & communications:The music changes up every year, both recorded and Blue Band, while some of the staples remain in place.Sweet Caroline has been brought up in recent years as to whether or not it should remain a part of the playlist. We hear from fans each year on whether or not we should continue it, given that it happens to be played in so many other professional and collegiate venues and has no real origination here at Penn State.Although the lyrics were brought up and discussed, to say the song was "banned" because of the lyrics would not be accurate. It simply became easier to rotate out in order to try something else. All part of the process of keeping our fans entertained while keeping what happens during the game
Can you blame them? If they didn't take it out of rotation, ban, or whatever, somebody somewhere would say they're out of touch. Oh, wait, somebody DID! It's not worth much discussion.Penn State claiming Sweet Caroline isn't "banned" because of lyrics - yea right![]()

I'm going to the home opener. Excited to support coach Bill and the new team. A friend is getting tickets for me. WE ARE!

Definitely looks like the playing situation has changed to me.I'll go with about 2 hours ago.Announcers were talking this up as a huge win for Ohio - the biggest in their program - how long until a victory like this against Penn State is rendered meaningless?
Congrats! How many children were molested before halftime?I just watched a PSU team make play calls on offense based on 21st century football. I would have preferred a win, but am ecstatic about this.
Talent's not there on offense, but this was the most imaginative gameplan I've seen in a long time from Penn St. Ohio U is just good. I hope these guys stick with O'brien, won't win more than 4-5 games this year or anytime in the next few but if they hang tough during this stretch they'll come out of it quick once the sanctions are lifted.'ffldrew said:Announcers were talking this up as a huge win for Ohio - the biggest in their program - how long until a victory like this against Penn State is rendered meaningless?
