Let's Talk Penn State Football (1 Viewer)

Akron defense is done.

Regarding Hackenberg: He just doesn't seem to have his head in the game today. A lot of bad decisions on his part. The good news is that this is not the norm for him. He's had an off day, but he'll bounce back.

My father, a Penn State fan of 40-50 years, had an interesting perspective. I'm paraphrasing:

"The wildcat formation, the throwback to Hackenberg, Hackenberg out at wide receiver...Franklin needs to realize that he's not at Vanderbilt anymore. He doesn't have to concoct schemes to beat Alabama and LSU. This is Penn State and he's got the talent. Put an offense in place and run it. You don't need gimmicks."

It didn't seem to work all that well against the Zips. Imagine how well it won't work against the Suckeyes.

Hack is making too many bad decisions.
Teenagers will do that
If I may play psychiatrist:

I almost feel like maybe Hackenberg believed the hype today. After last week and the 454 passing yards, the dark-horse Heisman hype (Okay, maybe not "dark horse"), PSU fans chatting that he already might be the best in PSU history...Maybe he started to believe it a little. Maybe he started to do too much and force too many throws. After all, he is 19 years old. He's a kid.

He's overthinking it. Or maybe I am. But I'm drinking, so that makes me right. Right?

I know what you're saying. They need to settle into a rhythm before they hit the heart of the Big10 schedule. I to believe that Franklin is just experimenting at this point.

To be fair, he didn't do that as long as the game was in doubt. So you may be right.

Yep, you're absolutely right.
