The “usual suspects” and names you’ll hear are Rhule (letterman), Cignetti (Pennsylvania roots), Golden (letterman), and Diaz (former DC). All have pros and cons. Coaching, player development, and the ability to recruit and retain at a high level in an NIL/portal world and compete for and win championships will be key. Mixed bag with each of them IMO.For Penn State Fans, who would you like to see next?
Without thinking about it too much, I'd love to see them go after Curt Cignetti. What he has done with Indiana has been very impressive. For Penn State Fans, who would you like to see next?
I'm not sure I can be on-board with that personally. I've always thought Meyer was dirty, and I don't think we need that at PSU at this point. The “usual suspects” and names you’ll hear are Rhule (letterman), Cignetti (Pennsylvania roots), Golden (letterman), and Diaz (former DC). Dark horse is Urban Meyer. He was all but signed, sealed, and delivered as Paterno’s immediate replacement before the NCAA brought the sanctions hammer down and scared him off and to tOSU. The man has a ton of baggage and character concerns, but he checks all those other boxes and is only 61 (younger than Cignetti). Will be interested if he is interested in a redemption arc to wash the stink of his Jacksonville experience away.
Franklins record against top teams has been awful. He built good but not great teams and could not get the team ready to win big games year after year. For a big program like PSU, there has to be bigger aspirations than a winning record.About 3 years too late.
Really? #3 in the country 15 days ago.
And Playoff Semi Finals recently.
Things do move fast though.
2-18 vs top 10 teams since he came to PSU (11.5 years).Franklins record against top teams has been awful. I'm a big Josh Pate fan, and he was kind of bashing firing the guy.Franklins record against top teams has been awful. Assuming Indiana doesn’t completely flame out, Cignetti should be Penn St bound in January. If I was Cignetti I’d go to UCLA but he seems like more of a Penn St guy.I'm a big Josh Pate fan, and he was kind of bashing firing the guy.Franklins record against top teams has been awful. But i agree with you. Penn State has a massive budget, they have NIL money, they don't have an SEC schedule, and they should have first crack at every high schooler in the Northeast.
Wouldn't be shocked if they take a shot at Cignetti, and really, he has to consider it. Amazing story at JMU and IU, but this is a job of a different level
