I was looking over the schedule and these 5 games came to mind, NE looks like a safe bet, but their narrow 21-16 win early at home against Buffalo last year has me worried, SD at Oakland looks like a safe bet also, but a healthy Moss has me worried and Oakland could be dangerous to bet against early on. Philly at Houston looks like the safest bet, that line hasnt looked any better and Carr has been like a dear in head lights, plus Davis is out, but the Eagles receivers are pretty bad, and Westy is banged up, the Texans really served it to me a couple years ago with wins over Dallas and Miami in opening day. I guess I'm leaning towards Philadelphia, your thoughts people?

I actually like the SF @ ARZ game. I think healthy Warner, Edge, Boldin & Fitz put on a home opener show in their new stadium against the worst defense of 2005. I think SF will be better this year, but so will Arizona and they have some quality players who know how to win. I don't see how SF could win unless Warner goes down with an injury in the 1st quarter and SF's offense makes some major strides over last year.

I thought about that also, but they barely scraped out a 17-10 against SF, and Smith had 3 int's he's looked alot better in preseason, Arizona has looked terrible in preseason, Warners passes are coming out all wobbly and off target, that looks like a trap gamehttp://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=251204025

I haven't been able to watch either of their preseason games this year yet, but if they look the way you describe them this weekend, I will probably lean towards Seattle or New England. Detroit's still got a long way to go to improve over last year and Seattle is still a very good football team. As far as New England goes, all I have to say is best coach ever (and I hate NE). It would be a debocle if Buffalo comes in to Foxboro and wins.

You won't last long in these pools taking road teams. It doesn't get any better for Arizona that getting SF at home in week one.

While I agree, Seattle is beating Detroit. New Engalnd seems like a nice option.
Spoken like the guys taking Dallas over Houston in week 1 a couple of years ago.
Wager on the Det/Seattle game?I've won plenty of these pools, ask Chris Bruce, he's around here somewhere.

Nobody likes the eagles game? The Texans went 2-14 last year and they dont look any better. The Eagles are a good football team, they have a good defensive and offensive line and should man handle the Texans

Based on the above, you'd have to lean to NE and AZ.NE has an easy sked, so I'd agree - now is the time to take Arizona.

The defense is better than you think - they should be able to stuff ABryant, VDavis and Gore.

Point spread dont matter in Survivor. nice way to back pedal though.

Good thread - I was persoanlly going NE, but am thinking about going arizona but/............. IIRC, SF beat STL last year and knocked about half of the pool participants out in week one - really want to go against SF again?

Haven't back pedaled a bit. Said that Arizona was the superior pick and gave my reasons. Now the NFL oddsmakers are supporting my postion. Burn a quality Seattle team early and save Arizona for later if you like.

San fransisco is actually pretty good at home, they were 4-4 at home and 1-7 on the road

IMO SF has a better chance of winning than Detroit in week1. generally I dont "save" quality teams, I take the best matchup every single week. Looking ahead in the schedule is a good way to get burned in these leagues as well. Now that I've looked at it even more, I think NEPats is the best way to go week 1.
