Lions/Eagles (1 Viewer)

Philly homer here… I like the Lions mainly because of the Lion’s WR’s.

Lito is out and both safeties (Dawkins and Considine) are banged up. Brown has played very well this year, but he has had trouble against tall WR’s in the past. The only hope on defense is that we get a nice pass rush going. Do I even need to mention the problems the offense has had?

Edit: Lito is listed as “doubtful” which basically means he is out.

Apperciate the insight i'm big on the over 43.5, but thinking about putting a little on the Lions moneyline.

Lions.

McNabb making excuses had to ripple through the team.

Now its squarely on his shoulders alone for this team to win and he is has way too many issues.

The Philly secondary is hurt and its the wrong NFC team to have those problems against.

i like the eagles. their backs are against the wall and they are desperate for a win. the eagles are still a good football team and reid will have them ready. eagles are notoriously slow starters under reid. high scoring close game with the home team coming out on top.

Eagles definitely need a big game out of McNabb here.

Lions secondary is still awful, just hasn't looked as bad playing the Vikings and Raiders (did give up 300 yards passing to Oakland). If we see the McNabb of old, the Lions get shredded and the Eagles win a shootout. If not, gonna be a long day for Philly.

I'd give a significant advantage to the Eagles at home.

The two QB's the Lions have played against this year:

McCown: Who played for the Lions as a Wide Receiver last year

Jackson: Who may play for the Lions as a WR next year the way he's playing.

Sure, McNabb isn't playing like we've seen him. But I expect a slow and steady improvement thru the course of the season and McNabb is still a signficant upgrade in terms of QB compared to those other guys the Lions have faced.

Eagles fan here. I really think this matchup is a toss up. I don't like Lito Shepard being out against the Lions receivers. That said, the Eagles are the far, far more desperate team here. What is so hard to predict is how Mcnabb is going to play. I'd go with the Eagles barely, but it would not shock me if the Lions won. The only reason I'm probably picking the Eagles is because after all, it is the Lions we are talking about.

Lito being out is big. It moves eveyone on the Phily secondary up one rank. #2 CB now has to face Roy Williams, #3 Calvin Johnson, #4 Mike Furrey, #5 Shawn McDonald, plus Kevin Jones looks to see 15-20 snaps and he is a good reciever. With the Lions depth at recieving targets i think the game comes down to a simple statement:If Kinta plays every snap Lions win

-Can the lions protect Kitna enough/can the Eagles pressure him enough for him to get hurt/take him out of his element.

The Lions have been a bad road team for a long time (well they haven't exactly been that good at home either), but hey Kitna promised 11 victories, they are gonna have to win a few on the road. Perhaps this is one of them.

McNabb making excuses? What did he have to make an excuse for in the preseason?

The Bird's will have trouble with the Lions WR's, but you can't throw every play. I don't think the Lions can run on the Eagles even if the Eagles are playing to stop the pass every play. Wlliam James and and Joselio Hansen are half decent, and I don't think Mikell is that bad either. If Westbrook is healthy, the Eagles win a tight one.

Eagles 20 - Lions 16

Its hard for me to think that Mcnabb is going to continue playing this poorly. Its hard for me to think that Philly will be able to defend the pass. The spread offense is here to stay. If kitna plays the whole game Lions win a shootout.

For being black? And his team got the gist of it this week, not in the preseason.

Lions, because I own Calvin and because I'm tired of McNabb. The sooner they lose, the sooner he just shuts up.

I think the Eagles dominate in this one. Philly has to win and Detroit is almost giddy over being 2-0. The Eagles haven't played well, but they aren't far from being 2-0, and the Lions are not far from being 0-2. I know all games are like that to some degree, but these games were particularly close.

Detroit has barely beaten two not-so-great teams. They'll face a decent one Sunday, and I think they won't play well in this road game. I own more Lions than Eagles across all my leagues, and I think Detroit makes a better story this year (and they're much more fun to watch). But I just see Philly regaining some dignity this week. Something like 37-14.

I like your logic and my brain was making me say the same thing... but I just can't be anything but optimistic about my Lions right now.Although I think you might be right, here's what I want to believe:1-The Lions WRs are too much for the Eagles beaten up secondary. They should have a field day.2-The Lions defensive front 4 is playing great. Granted their stat line doesn't look amazing since they don't have a lot of sacks, but they have gotten a lot of pressure on QBs, broken up plays in the backfield, and created turnovers.3-The Eagles are just too beat up. It seems like all of their playmakers are hurt.Lions 28 Eagles 16

Between the beat up Eagles secondary, and the weak Detroit defense playing on the road, I see Philly in a shootout. McNabb will wake up this game and have one of his best games of the year.

I can see Philly winning in the neighborhood of 35-27.

He promised 10.
I think he 'promised' -"more than 10 wins."
Nope.He said "At least 10 wins."
Here's what he said, he said..."First and foremost, I did not make a prediction," he said Wednesday. "Check the audio, what I said was, 'It will be a disappointment for us not to win 10 games.' Every team should be disappointed if (it doesn't) win 10 games."

"I really think we should not win any less than 10 games this year, to be honest," Kitna said on Day 4 of the Lions' voluntary offseason workout program.

Lions - 31

Eagles - 24

Kitna - 318 yards, 3 TD's

KJ - 47 Total yards, 1 TD

Roy - 138 yards, 1 TD

Mcnabb - 246 yards, 2 TD

Westbrook - 181 total yards, 2 TD

Brown - 92 yards, 1 TD

Lions win.

Eagles don't have the 2ndary to stand up to the passing attack. Hell they are going to have a rookie ( late round even ) on the field sunday.

CB Lito hurt

FS Dawkins hurt

SS Considine hurting

Tallest CB will be Will James at 6ft. Who was beat bad a few times by santana in the MNF game.

All i know is after the game at the press conference you will hear this. "This was my fault. I need to put these guys in better position to execute. Donovan will be fine. "

McNabb is looking like last year's Palmer. The knee is bothering him, and he's not planting to throw and is looking like he has a case of "happy feet." Palmer didn't round into form 'till about week 8, but Palmer is younger and hasn't taken the beating McNabb has over his career. McNabb hurt his knee earlier in the season than Palmer but with his age I'm putting recovery time about the same (week 8ish). I think this is a passing game (duh) and Donovan is not up to the task yet. 220/1/3 is what I'm thinking for him and Westbrook (if healthy) is the only good play 'till midway through the season. Lions go 3-0 as well as G.B. and a lot of people start giving the NFC North a little respect. Calvin gets 65/2 and becomes the hottest commodity in Dynasty leagues for all his TDs and people start talking about R.Moss' record. McDonald is a very solid start this week, and will outperform about 1/2 of our #1WRs.

To all these people predicting McNabb returning to form I find it hard to believe. Did you actually watch how bad he was against Green Bay last week? He looked more like Michael Vick (when passing) then the Old Donovan McNabb so how does he turn it around in one week? I know the Lions secondary is bad but so are the Phily receivers and it doesnt matter how wide open you are if your QB cant get the ball to you. Also dont forget the speedy LB's Detroit has can help to contain Westbrook I should rephrase that slow him down. Detroit wins 31-17

I'll be at the game. Hopefully the only ugly thing about the Eagles will be their uni's but I kind of doubt it.

With Dawkins inactive and Lito most likely out I look for a lot of big plays by the Lions receivers....I love Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson today.

Well, ain't I lookin' stupid right about now!
