Megatron confirms he played with broken fingers

Calvin Johnson played last season through the haze of constant double teams and face-to-face attention from the league's most rugged defenders.

We also know he played through pain.

Megatron on Monday confirmed to Chris McCosky of the Detroit News that he suited up for most of last season with three broken fingers. There was speculation during the campaign that his fingers were damaged when they were seen wrapped in bandages. Now we know.

Johnson said no surgery is needed, but he's still trying to straighten out the fingers.

Johnson faithfully appeared in all 16 games despite a banged-up left knee and troubled ankles. He also confessed toiling through a concussion and nerve damage. The Lions denied that, and Megatron later tempered those claims.

With injuries that would have left lesser men floored, Johnson didn't skip a beat and led the NFL with 122 catches for 1,964 yards. His toughness is not up for debate.

This is absolutely crazy that he was able to put up those yardage numbers with broken fingers.

Any truth to the rumor that Titus Young is the one who broke Megatron's fingers? I heard there was an alleged double dipping incident with the chips and salsa at the team meal

Funny how the NFL seems to ignore the blatant violation of its injury rules so often. Although the Bills got nailed for something really stupid and got a fine or something a year or two ago. But one of its best players plays with broken fingers, concussion and nerve damage that never showed up on the injury report. Good job NFL. You clearly don't care about the health and safety of your players, otherwise the Lions would be looking at huge fines and loss of draft picks if they truly did coverup a concussion.

This is true and Titus was right. He was better than Megatron, at least at getting more salsa on his chips.

Are fingers somehow not important to a WR? Calvin breaks his fingers and goes for 2k. Dez breaks his finger and goes off for 200 against the Saints. Let's break everybody's fingers!

Didn't you know? Broken fingers act like glue and allow you to catch anything and everything.

why would the benefit be limited to catching?!
