While the most debonair of FBG are living in the city (see Bobby Layne et al), for us mere mortals, we have to venture in on the busiest commuter railroad in the country.
Which sounds like it's about to strike for some period of time.
Any of you already have contingency plans? I'm not important enough to get a car/hotel room, so I think I'll probably be telecommuting and hitching rides. I'd like to avoid just going to Jamaica, because it's going to be a madhouse. I can't imagine what the F line is going to look like. It sounds like it'd also be possible to park at Citifield and take the 7 in as well.
I'm not tremendously anti-union, but this is one I'd like to see crushed. I cannot imagine they have a strike fund to last more than a couple of weeks. The LIRR already runs at a larger deficit than Metro North and New Jersey. Hopefully they come out paying for 50% of their insurance and have a 7-year wage freeze.
