I am not a fan of this mentality, because sometimes the initial offer is a good deal.  Would you decline if I offered you Saquon for Duke Johnson?

Evans / Fitz - Evans clearly has a leg up on this one and I think Fitz's numbers will vary a lot more with a rookie QB going through some growing pains. But like you said, probably still a viable fantasy option. Like you said, WAS bringing in Ajayi once we traded him would be in line with the fate of this fantasy team so far.

AP - Assuming Guice is going to be out for awhile, AP would be the likely option to take on the majority of carries. He likely won't see anything in the passing game.

Cohen - With Mike Davis around (who is still on our waiver wire), my concern is Cohen won't get carries. He had none against GB. He didn't do much most of the game but then saw a flurry of targets late.

This trade offer is starting to grow on me.

In regular fantasy team circumstances, I would tend to agree with you about AP. However, in our situation we are really scraping by at RB. In reality, if Peterson could carry the load for a couple of months if Guice were to miss a bunch of time and then Gordon comes back for us say halfway into the season, our team would be in decent shape.

I think your RB corps is gonna be a mix & match of players who can perform now, and players who will perform later.  Even if you only get 4 or 5 games out of AP, that will buy you time for guys like Gurley to fall apart.

This team also just traded Michael Thomas and Kareem Hunt for Kerryon Johnson and Calvin Ridley, so it will have to cut a player to get to 17 players. (Hunt will suspended does not take up a roster spot for some reason.)

The revised roster would probably be:

Mixon, White, Howard, Peterson, Cohen, Hines, KJohnson
Ridley, Landry, Fitz, Davis, Miller, 
Kittle, Waller
Butker
Chargers or Vikings

I'd take that trade unless I planned on returning next year -- and I think we all know the answer on whether you'll be returning.

Evans is definitely better than Fitz but I think that the difference is more than offset by gaining a startable RB in Cohen and AP who could put up some solid weeks for you while you wait on Gordon to return or one of your RBs to hit.  

You are basically trading one starter for three.

 
I accepted the Peterson / Cohen / Fitzgerald (incoming) for Evans / Ogunbowale / Ajayi (outgoing) offer. The other owners can actually still vote on this trade and have it overturned. If the trade goes through, this would mean the updated roster would be:

Hopkins, OBJ, Fitz, Crowder
Hooper, Ebron

I also think this is the right trade, though I've been too focused on my own teams to check in on the thread like last week.

I'm not crazy about it.  Peterson and Cohen are upgrades for sure, but not solutions.  You still need legit starting RBs, which these two are not (IMO).  They're RB3/flex types.

It's still an OK trade I guess if Fitz isn't too much of a downgrade from Evans.

I agree it would be nice to have a legit RB1 and RB2. But no one was going to give us a decent RB and we would have to ask Santa and hope to find one under our tree at Christmas. It’s tough playing poker when you are never dealt any face cards.

Obviously, no, but we all know that type of trade will never, ever happen unless (for example) Saquon goes down with an injury and his owner tries to pull a fast one before word gets out.

It’s a case-by-case situation, but as I said before, when someone offers a trade they are displaying weakness.  In this case I wanted to see the full roster to see if we could come up with a counter.  Even though Evans sh!t the bed and Winston sucks, he’s trying to buy low.

It’s all moot now, as the trade was accepted.

I was specifically talking about the part you said that I bolded ... "when someone offers a trade they are displaying weakness".  That's crazy talk.

 
It’s true the vast majority of the time from my 20 years of FF experience.  Owners don’t offer trades from positions of strength to get weaker or help other teams close the gap.

Seems way more accurate to say all of these other teams were trying to exploit Anarchy's weakness, than revealing their own weakness.

More like trying to gouge him.  This last trade offer (the one accepted) was by far the most reasonable.

I like the trade. In addition to the questions about AP and Cohen, everyone seems to assume Evans will remain higher than Fitz, or Crowder for that matter. But holy crap did Winston look bad. Fitz and Crowder could both outperform Evans, and Cohen will be a useable starter all year. AP for the conceivable future. Maybe bridges the gap between now and when Gordon comes back and/or Gurley's wheels fall off.

I saw the Crowder stuff coming. He won't see 17 targets again, but he could be the king of underneath dump offs that look great for fantasy but not as much in real football. A 7.1 ypr for a receiver is nothing to write home about. Opponents, though, will be happy to give the Jets those type of short yardage plays and defend deeper routes. The Jets play NE twice in the next few weeks. NE will set up at the sticks and give him those catches. The issue for Crowder will be that he may never sniff the end zone and you can't really plan for him to have 8+ catches every game. As you said though, Fitz could approach Evans in terms of production.

Coach Adam Gase told reporters that Le'Veon Bell (shoulder) won't practice Thursday and will get an MRI.

The Jets are falling apart at the seams, as Sam Darnold (mono) has been ruled out for Week 2 and it appears that could be in Bell's potential range of outcomes as well. At the very least, it seems unlikely that Bell will play 100% of the Jets' offensive snaps Monday night against the Browns like he did in Week 1. Ty Montgomery is Bell's handcuff and would instantly be elevated into the RB2 conversation if Bell ultimately misses action.

That’s an improvement both short and potentially long-term. 

I’m not a big Cohen guy, but he’s basically a slot receiver you can start at RB, which for PPR makes him flex-worthy and even RB2 when he scores a TD. 

AP for sure helps you for 6-8 weeks, and I have to believe it’ll be RBBC when (if) Guice ever plays, but then it’s WAS so you never know the depths of stupidity they’ll sink to with injured players. Still, 2 months of AP as a clear cut 1st-2nd down back is better than nothing for a team lacking depth at RB. 

Nice haul. Long term its basically Evans for Cohen, which I don’t love,  but you also get out of that awful “having to care about TB” thing. 

Unfortunate you couldn’t have sold Evans before the week 1 disaster against the Niners.

A different trade made on the same day (not involving any of these players) got processed and the players switched teams.. GRRRR.

commish needs to by-hand adjust the rosters to match the post-trade results asap.

Guice out indefinitely now - keep us posted as to when commish makes the change.  You are still weak at RB, but stacked everywhere else.  Things are starting to look up.  And when Gurley collapses, you are golden!

Hopefully this is just a minor snafu. But if there is a way to communicate with people directly on the league site, I don’t see it. Don’t see a message board.
