Why aren't the Rangers using Tolleson?
The thought is you want the groundball pitcher vs the flyball pitcher against this Toronto lineup. Just like Gallardo getting the start in game one, if it's KC against Texas, he probably doesn't get a start, but you like the matchup.

Home plate ump is consistent everyone is hating his strike zone

What channel is this game on? FS1 is now showing HOU/KC at the house. Where did they send the TEX/TOR game?

Scrolling through the 20ish FS channels and it's not on that I can find.

EDIT: MLB Network picked it up. Nevermind.

In the unlikely situation where Toronto comes back and just ties it they are down to 2 pitchers that were declared available. Warrants mentioning.

So the oldest guy who couldn't pitch for the worst team in baseball, the Rockies, is called upon to hold the game. The outcome should be no surprise

Homeplate ump sucks. Tulo got screwed first out of the 14th.

Don't think they could overturn the Odor play, BTW. No evidence his foot actually came off the bag and didn't just slide down the side...

Playoff baseball game coming down to Latroy Hawkins and Ross Ohlendorf. Whoda thunk it?!

It really is the same as NFL. When it is fast and real time we will go with best judgement. When we can slow it down and zoom in lets change the requirement to conclusive video evidence.

What?!

They should still have an ump stand back there. But put a buzzer on him that buzzes when its a strike and not when its a ball. Then he can do the hand motions and run the game and call safe and out at home, but he gets all ball and strike calls correct

Good call. The best line from the TBS announcers in the Cubs/Cards game - Lackey was getting quite a bit a few inches off the corner - one announcer said "What do you think he should do now?" (Lackey was behind in the count to a righty) - "He should just throw it over the left hand batters box and wait for the call." :lmao:

Not a fan of replay being used to see if a guy came off the bag for a millisecond, obviously since you can, managers kind of have to try but a bit dumb IMO.

Probably be more effective if rather than a buzzer, there was an electrode attached to his balls that went off on every missed call..

utley's slide may be legal, but shouldn't be. The runner should have to start the slide before the bag and you should actually have to touch the bag.

Changed the whole series there and Tejada gone with fractured fibula. Imo, this is not what the game's about or how it should be played.

Agreed. A lot of people will say, "That's just baseball," but that is the problem. This meathead approach to playing, where you can just take out a guy and break his leg, is freaking lame.

So what do you propose banning sliding? Have two different bags? No more breaking up double plays?

A slide would have been nice. Who slides on both knees?

Beginning a slide 2-3 feet in front of the bag and actually be aimed at and able to touch the bag would prevent the most egrigious immediayely.

They cleaned up a lot of the home plate collision stuff this year. Yet a second baseman isn't armored nor positioned to receive the contact.
