http://m.mlb.com/official_rules/replay_reviewDefinitely dirty.
And how can they call him safe in replay of he never touched the base. Also i thought the neighborhood play wasnt reviewable. Am i remembering incorrectly?
Rule 6.05 states that that particular slide is illegal and against the rules. So what do you propose banning sliding? Have two different bags? No more breaking up double plays?Agreed. A lot of people will say, "That's just baseball," but that is the problem. This meathead approach to playing, where you can just take out a guy and break his leg, is freaking lame.Changed the whole series there and Tejada gone with fractured fibula. Imo, this is not what the game's about or how it should be played.
seems like according to this they shouldn't have even reviewed the play.http://m.mlb.com/official_rules/replay_reviewV.D.1.: Notwithstanding the foregoing, the following calls will not be subject to review:Definitely dirty.

The Umpire's judgment that a runner is clearly out on a force play at second base under circumstances in which the defensive player may or may not have touched second base in his attempt to complete a double play and avoid a collision with the runner. All other elements of the call shall be subject to review, including whether the fielder caught the ball, had control of the ball, was drawn off the bag, or tagged the runner. In this regard, a determination as to whether the fielder made a catch before dropping the ball while in the act of making a throw following the catch shall be reviewable.
Some mystery person in NY decided to look at this under the drawn off the bag by an errant toss. The throw didn't look that wild from my perspective it was a DP try and all parts of that are hurried and sped up. This rule is a hot mess.seems like according to this they shouldn't have even reviewed the play.http://m.mlb.com/official_rules/replay_reviewV.D.1.: Notwithstanding the foregoing, the following calls will not be subject to review:Definitely dirty.

I think they're implicitly admitting they ####ed up the call, but they can't go back and start the game over from that point, can they. Or put Tejada's leg back together. The Utley suspension is horseshit. Not because he doesn't deserve it, but because they're trying to cover their ### for blowing the call at the moment that may have handed the series to the Dodgers. He should have been thrown out of the game immediately after it happened and there should have been no review and subsequent realtime decisions enhancing the ill-gotten Dodger advantage. This kind of thing only tarnishes more the declining perception of MLB when their popularity is already on the skids.
Stupid MLB. Why do you make it so hard to love you?
I agree, but just really frustrated about post-incident actions when completely blown in the moment. Its like we didn't know we were stupid until you pointed it out. That shows me you know how to PR when called out, but you're still stupid.I think they're implicitly admitting they ####ed up the call, but they can't go back and start the game over from that point, can they. There ARE circumstances where games can be ordered to be replayed from a certain spot, aren't there? I don't think it's happened very many times, but I thought there was some mechanism for that.I think they're implicitly admitting they ####ed up the call, but they can't go back and start the game over from that point, can they. I'd love to see them do this. But then again, I'm a fan of cluster####s and anarchyThere ARE circumstances where games can be ordered to be replayed from a certain spot, aren't there? Seems like that would earn MLB a whole lot more credibility than taking a total half measure and blaming the player while admitting no mistake on their end.
Not a fan of replay being used to see if a guy came off the bag for a millisecond, obviously since you can, managers kind of have to try but a bit dumb IMO.Homeplate ump sucks. Tulo got screwed first out of the 14th.
Don't think they could overturn the Odor play, BTW. No evidence his foot actually came off the bag and didn't just slide down the side...
yea i had the same thought.Someone tell me why stealing third base with two outs makes any sense whatsoever? Especially with a guy on 2nd that will score walking on a single.
For the off chance that there's a wild pitch? Totally not worth losing that opportunity.
Baseball twitter going nuts at the injustice of guys being called out for losing contact with a stolen base for a split second. I agree it's a cheap way to get an out. Some allowance should be made for the physics of a guy's foot hitting a bag and bouncing off momentarily.Someone tell me why stealing third base with two outs makes any sense whatsoever? Joe Sheehan agreed that it wasn't a neighborhood play. Can't remember his explanation but I trust him on that.Yeah torre said it wasn't a neighborhood play. Makes no sense
Nah, stay on the bag and you're safe. OR, don't risk any of it by stealing third with two out with a burner on 2nd.Baseball twitter going nuts at the injustice of guys being called out for losing contact with a stolen base for a split second. Yeah, exactly like last year when they came back against Oakland down 7-3 :roll:That's a crazy turn of events. Kind of comebacks that champions make.
he was an idiot long, long before that.

And has spent about 3/4 of his time, at least while on TV, staring into his phone.Marlins man must've had to pony up for those seats

The Astros should have brought Mchugh into a 6-2 gameWhy would the Jays bring Price into a 7-1 game?
