Liverpool have defeated 3 teams in the last 9 seasons of Champions League football. Clubs from Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia: Debrecen, Ludogorets, Maribor.

Its a good thing Liverpool only need a draw against Spartak - 4th in the Russian Premier League...

The wheels came off vs Tottenham, but boy did Jurgen work some magic in the aftermath.

This team is every bit as good offensively as Man City.  I recall before the Mane' red card in the LFC-City game, Liverpool were the team that looked better offensively and City looked scared out of their minds.

The issue, obviously, is defensively.  Fortunately Joe Gomez and Ragnar Klavan have really done well.  Gomez is growing in stature every week.  Klavan has been rock solid for most of the year.  Even Lovren, as bad as he was in the Tottenham game, hasn't really been that bad recently.

Like the other 4 EPL teams, survival in the CL may come down to the draw.  Is Liverpool good enough to beat Madrid?  I doubt it.  The draw will be fun.  But with a reasonably decent draw, I like this team's chances of going far.  A great tournament team.

How many points?
Top of the group is all that matters. If you want to nit pick, we'll get into who's in 6th in the league and can't handle games on two fronts.

Jurgen managed Liverpool perfectly though the group(Top of the group and top four in league). Spurs are choking in the league and still won't win CL.

You’ve scored 13 goals less than City and their system is solid enough to be 2nd in GAs - you’re delusional if you think your attack is as good as Citeh’s.

If you count Champions league games, we’ve scored 4 less goals than City.  Also, Mane missed much of the year, Coutinho missed all preseason and wasn’t himself for a long time...

Since the Tott disaster, Liverpool have scored 5 more goals than City.

The attacks are very, very close.

But City are ten times better defensively. Maybe 20!

So, what's the preferred lineup when everyone healthy?  I'd say this is mine.

Mane         Firmino        Salah

Coutinho    Lallana       Wijnaldum

Robertson  Matip   VVD   Gomez

Bench: Can, Moreno, Klavan, Ox, Solanke, Milner

:lmao: :lmao:

so, the Nike site apparently had a "slip" and posted a promotion for Barça kits with the tagline: "Philippe Coutinho is ready to light up Camp Nou. Get your 2017/18 FC Barcelona kit with the Magician’s name on it. Act fast—free personalisation only available until 6 January."

this was one response on reddit:

Holy ####. My mom came into my room to bring me a plate of chicken nuggets and I literally screamed at her and hit the plate of chicken nuggets out of her hand. She started yelling and swearing at me and I slammed the door on her. I'm so distressed right now I don't know what to do. I didn't mean to do that to my mom but I'm literally in shock from the Nike website tonight. I feel like I'm going to explode. Why the ####### #### is a Barca shirt with his name on it for sale? This can't be happening. I'm having a ####### breakdown. I don't want to believe the front office is so daft. I want a future to believe in. I want Coutinho to be Captinho and fix this broken midfield. I cannot ####### deal with this right now. It wasn't supposed to be like this, I thought he was gonna lead us to Kiev???? This is so ####ed.
:lmao:

Liverpool fans, are you worried about how the club will reinvest the Coutinho money? Fear not, after selling Suarez you recruited Rickie Lambert, Divock Origi, Lazar Markovic and Balotelli, all of whom famously helped you win the league title the following season.

Congrats on 2nd last year as well.

As much as Pool fans will hate it, now is a perfect time to sell if Barca is willing to give them what they want.  They aren't winning the league but I think they have enough to finish top 4.  Unlikely to win CL but they can compete with or without him.

And then invest them money on a GK and a defender.

Philippe Coutinho is sold for £145m and Liverpool are linked with Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez. This can only mean one thing... Welcome to Anfield, James Ward-Prowse!

Stevie G speaking the Truth: "It doesn't come much bigger than playing Spurs in the last eight of the (U18) Premier League Cup, away at their training complex, which is a superb environment."

Turns out the moment was a little too big for 'Pool - as they fell 4-0 to the underdog Spurs...

Congrats!  I know this is big for you guys

The updated CIES valuations put him at 140.5 mil Euros (http://www.football-observatory.com/IMG/sites/b5wp/2017/209/en/).  If offered, I don't think FSG could justify not accepting that to their investors, despite what it might signal.
Klopp is their wet dream.  That’s why I don’t overly worry about guys leaving.  He can manage his teams to out the ball in the net.  Not a problem.  If he turns a 35M dollar player into a 140M in one year...FSG will be happy
