LJ to get more receptions? (1 Viewer)

Saw a poster on another board that heard Herm on NFLLive say LJ would be used more in the passing game yesterday and referenced his 40 receptions vs. Bush's totals last year. Also cited this from the archives.

Larry Johnson, RB, Kansas City Chiefs Thursday 5/31, 11:03 AM CT

Coach Herm Edwards stated on Wednesday that he plans to get Larry Johnson more touches as a receiver in 2007. "That's the next step in his development as a running back in this league: His ability to come out of the backfield running routes," Edwards told the Kansas City Star. "We need to get the ball to our backs a little more than we did last year." Johnson caught 41 passes last year, and Edwards would like to see that number closer to 60 this season.

What do y'all think about his reception totals in 2007. Is 60 a real possibity?

Would this push him to 3rd best RB in PPR leagues?

That's been my arguement all through the offseason when people downgrade him because of a poor o-line and shaky QB play.

Larry Johnson is far and away the most talented offensive player on the team.

If the line isn't opening holes for him.... I gotta believe they will throw him more dump passes and screens this year.

Try and get LJ out in space. I believe his reception totals will certainly be up this year as a result.

KC will likely be behind a lot this year and playing against some prevent defenses. Priest used to get a ton of yards on draws and dump offs when they were behind.

I am a huge Cheifs fan. I would love to see LJ catch allot more balls, but I can remember three or four balls that bounced off of LJs helmet or chest. I think Herm gets tired of LJ dropping passes and they bring pittman in to catch passes.

Well if you look at 2006 STATS: LJs receptions/targets he was around 62% . Gore (71%) and Addai (80%) were higher.

some of these coaches that are more than willing to come out and announce to everyone what their intentions are and how they are planning on using individual players just dont get . Herm and Mike Tice come to mind. God, keep your mouths shut and your pencils in your friggin' desk already! Id pay no attention to anything Edwards says about that O....period.
