LJ - what will be his rank at the end of the year? (1 Viewer)

You own Larry Johnson (I wish I did)... you think he will bust this year after watching him gain only 305 combined yards in the first two games?... well, let's see...

In the last 10 years - there were 17 RBs that gain at least 300 combined yards in their first two games... on average, and assuming FBG scoring... they ended the year as RB9...

Does this mean that it's time to panic and send a menace letter to LJ?... far from it...

Excluding Duce Staley who ended 47th in '00 (because he played only 5 games that year) - there is no reason to believe LJ won't be a RB1 for your team since only Edge in '02 finished remotely out of that ranking...

Only the fact that he certainly was drafted with one of the first 3 picks... making your 2nd round selection a late one should have you worried...

Finally, and most importantly... LJ is a definite TD machine - maybe the holes aren't "Raof size" anymore... but I wouldn't worry too much about him...

Deep breath... you'll be all right...

Here is the complete list:

Code:
G. Hearst - '98 - 375 - 5J. Lewis	- '03 - 368 - 4C. Martin - '04 - 347 - 4M. Faulk	- '00 - 331 - 1A. Green	- '02 - 331 - 13D. Staley - '00 - 331 - 47D. Davis	- '04 - 330 - 5E. James	- '02 - 330 - 24D. Levens - '99 - 330 - 6A. Green	- '01 - 323 - 3E. George - '97 - 322 - 13W. Parker - '05 - 320 - 13P. Holmes - '03 - 311 - 1R. Williams - '02 - 305 - 2L. Johnson - '06 - 305 - ?M. Faulk	- '01 - 304 - 1C. Garner - '02 - 302 - 9

I think it's clear LJ is a rb 1. Worried about inuries more then anything. He will get his tds although 20+ may be out of reach.

As far as the guys who finished out of the top 5:

A.Green only played in 14 games.

Staley played in 10, and had TD's vultured from him.

James played in 14 games, and had Mungro vulturing TD's.

Dorsey Levens, another 14 gamer.

E George? Well he's Eddie George man! He did play all 16 though.

W. Parker got vultured.

C.Garner shared time, only had 182 rushing attempts.

Seems to me the only thing that should worry LJ owners is the rest of their draft.

I stopped reading after this. Larry Johnson is leading the NFL in yards from scrimmage.

The thing is, I'm all for LJ criticism, but it comes so early at a time when people assume that we can prorate every back's numbers for 14 more games.

Won't happen.

Frank Gore will NOT play the Cardinals and Rams every week; and, to a lesser degree because he's a stud anyway, LaDainian Tomlinson will NOT play the Raiders and Titans every week.

In fact Chase... it was actually to prove that it is not time to panic on LJ (contrary to what some are saying in other threads) - since he's leading the NFL in yards from scrimmage... and that gaining 305 yards in his first 2 games is something that happens rarely...
