Looking Back What Was Your Biggest Draft Mistake? (1 Viewer)

For me it was taking Jonathan Stewart over Arian Foster in the 6th round of my 10 teamer. I seriously considered taking Foster there, but I thought since he lacked name recognition I could get him in the next round. He went 4 picks after my Stewart selection

In dynasty I happened to be on the clock the day Brett Favre sent the supposed "retirement text" to teammates. I chose Tarvaris Jackson (Start 2QB league so starting QBs are gold) over....drumroll.....Arian Foster.

ditto, Jonathan Stewart in Rd 5 when Bradshaw was still on hte board. Although of all the remaining RB's that might have been considered instead, none of them have really shined either: Brandon Jacobs, Beanie Wells, CJ Spiller, Cadillac, Michael Bush, Jerome Harrison.

LT would have been a better pick though at this point, at least he could have worked as a Flex

Kolb in 9th round (12 team redraft). He was my second QB and that was a mistake, especially as he had not given real indication of being great. But it was a gamble, but a bit too early to take gambles on a back up QB. I cut him and picked up Orton last week.

drafted spiller and forsett in the midrounds not sure if either is even rosterable anymore but hanging onto spiller cause i think hes the best rb in the league

So much hype here about Foster, he went 4th round for me. Regret missing him and Best (3rd round).Starting to regret taking Mathews as my #1RB. Hopefully he rebounds. Pierre Thomas should be ok as my #2.

Took Best, which was good, but then I took Spiller over Arian Foster. Thought Foster might last another round, he didn't. I can't believe I could have had the Best/Foster combo as my 2nd & 3rd RBs (which I'm sure would have ended up being 1-2). Now I've got Best & a flex WR instead. Spiller is a perma-bench until he shows something.

In an auction I didn't "overpay" for Arian Foster and Jahvid Best.

Snake draft wise, IMO it's real hard to make a "mistake." You pretty much draft using a draft board based on what value comes to you.

Calvin Johnson over Miles Austin
:lmao: I think Calvin will actually do well, but I still can't believe I did it.My other mistake was being in 3 leagues for the first time this year and trying not to draft too similar a team. I have the most points in 2 of 3 leagues and in the other league I don't have Best/Cutler and other guys I liked. I am 0-2 and my team is meh. Can't believe I took Flacco over Cutler. I liked Cutler and was worried about having him in all 3.

Turner in the first in a majority of leagues I'm in has been the worst mistake so far but I like him going forward.

Worst mistake I think I made so far is either going Knox over Cooley in a 1ppr for WR 1.5PPR for TE league or going Greg Olsen over TB Mike Williams in same league.

Either way what is most important is none of my mistakes are injured and it's early. They still have a chance to prove me right.

Calvin over Austin

Meachem over S. Moss

I wanted Moss and lost track of him and took Meachem. Moss wouldn't crack my starting lineup, but would look great as a BYE replacement and spot starter depending on matchups.

lolYou have a lot to learn; you can make a ton of mistakes in a snake or an auction draft.

It just means that you have not risen to the level of being able to recognize the mistakes you made. Therefore you are doomed to repeat them again and again.

Really wanted Best...he went one spot ahead of me so I settled for Spiller

Really wanted Bradshaw...he went one spot ahead of me so I settled for Felix

So far, it's taking Moss over Austin in the 2nd. I used up my alloted time agonizing over the decision before finally choosing Moss.

*edit* I see a lot of Spiller answers here. I have him, but don't regret taking him where I got him (late 7th).

7 Drafts, looked at McCoy around his ADP in at least 6 of them, and passed due to preseason redraft RB rankings and the comments posted by the staff, contrary to what my own gut was telling me.

Did listen to the message board though and jumped on the Be(a)st train in 5 of them

At this point... keeping DeAngelo with a 2nd round pick instead of using it to select some other RB. Though I'm actually quite fine with DWill backing up AP and Foster, and I think he'll still do ok.

The rest of my draft has been pretty amazingly spot on through 2 weeks. Possibly one of my best drafts ever. I'm currently the top scorer in my league at QB, RB, and TE, and I'm second highest scorer at WR.

I could have also chosen some different IDP but I don't worry about them much. We don't start enough in that league that you can't find ones with a great matchup any given week on waivers, so I don't bother taking them until the end of the draft.

Barber over Bradshaw in the 8th. But overall, the dumb QB / TE in first 5 rounds (especially when you are in the 1 spot) hurts you too much at RB. Especially when your top QB is Romo. Don't think this strategy will come back next year.

At 16/17 in an 8-team draft, after taking CJ 1st, I was going two WRs all the way. I took Calvin and Fitz. While neither has been bad, I wish I would have gone Austin and Roddy White. I was taking two of those four, and I think I ultimately took the wrong two. Time will tell...

Stewart over Bradshaw in Rd 5

JStew just looks like a big swing and a miss this year, unless D Will gets injured (certainly possible). It happens.

Or that I think someone could walk into a snake draft with the latest yahoo rankings and have a similar chance of "draft success" as you, but that same person would get owned in an auction. I just don't see how you could make a "mistake" in a snake draft if you just take what value comes to you. Chances are you'll make the playoffs with in season management.

Took Welker over Cutler in round 5 (start 2qb league). Josh freeman is my #2QB now, and dennis dixon was my qb3 (oops?). To make matters worse, I have mike wallace/eddie royal on my bench since I have Miles austin as well as welker... Looks like I really needed welker over cutler?
