Looking for a new SUV (1 Viewer)

Nope, we're about to get a Highlander. 5 in our family, so need the extra 3rd row seat, good gas mileage, & from reports I've looked at, lower insurance costs. I don't like the taillights on the new ones (14-15s), & my wife thinks they look like bigger station wagons. I'm shooting for a used 2013 Limited trim Highlander, but would settle for a 2012 if it had low miles.

coworker just got a new 4runner. sweet ride indeed. he traded in his murano ? moranao? its a much better ride and much more ground clearance. you feel like your a big shot on the road in this thing

I was contemplating the new explorers but he was saying us cars don't hold their value as well. not sure gotta research this

I'll throw in another vote for a Ford Flex.

We have a 2010 SEL - Long story short we bought it without actually looking at the specific vehicle because we couldn't pass up on the deal, but knowing that the Flex was at the top of our list. But if I had the option of picking out the options I would have ensured it was AWD (if you live in the winter wonderland like I do) and that it has the sunroofs/moonroof. I can easily say that if this one was stolen/written off, we would buy another Flex without question.

But as for the vehicle itself, I love it. Fantastic use of space. Great options. Great to drive on the highway - even just with the base 6. The room in the backseat is fantastic. We have two car seats in the back right now, and my wife can sit comfortably in-between them.

My Dad has a '12 Highlander. Awesome car. Amazing use of space. It holds A LOT of people, or A LOT of luggage, and oddly doesn't feel that big. Very good use of the layout. My next car will likely be a smaller 3rd row SUV, and this is high on my list.

Don't get a Ford Exploder.
Why's that? We love ours. Great SUV, fit and finish is excellent, the Sync system is awesome.
:goodposting: I'm on my 3rd Explorer and the first 2 both hit over 100,000 miles without many issues. My newest one is the best car I've ever owned.

I had one of the models with the Crack in the back. AC went out, CV joints, and transmission would go into neutral when braking too hard. All before 100k.

My wife's college roommate had one with the crack. That has to be one of the most widely known defects ever. We used to count them on long road trips.

The new re-designed Explorers are really nice though. FIL has one. NOT cheap though.

I just bought a new highlander and I can't say enough about it. Absolutely love it.
That is the truck my wife wants. Is it big enough? Third seat? I need to check it out.
Oh yea. Third row. Captains seats in second. TON of space and drives great. Interior is beautiful too.
our Traverse has the captains chairs. I flip flop on liking them because when we have 5 people I have to take out my custom rubber mat to put the third row up
