Looking forward - Quarterbacks (1 Viewer)

After 4 weeks of play I thought it was time to review and re-evaluate my own projections.

Here is my resulting outlook at QB for week 5 forward.

Based on scoring: 1/50 pass, 1/20 rush/rec, 6 pts all TD's, (-2) all turnovers.

Looking forward to feedback. Thanks to FBG's from a faithful lurker.

QB1 P. MANNING – Pocket pressure bringing down comp% but Harrison and Wayne start hitting paydirt.

QB2 E. MANNING – As if he needed it, leaky defence helping pass happy numbers.

QB3 C. PALMER - Concerns about his health are gone. Slot him anywhere 1 through 4.

QB4 D. McNABB - Stronger opposition on the horizon for MVP candidate.

QB5 M. HASSELBECK - Frequent 3 and 4 receiver looks should yield big plays and big numbers.

QB6 T. BRADY - Great QB's make the most of their lot.

QB7 B. ROETHLISBERGER - Shakes off a month worth of rust. Passing opps way up over past seasons.

QB8 J. DELHOMME - More weapons than ever at his disposal.

QB9 M. VICK – Higher yet if red-zone efficiency improves.

QB10 B. FAVRE - Constantly playing catch-up yields inflated numbers. No upside from here.

QB11 J. PLUMMER - Important week 3 win foreshadows turn-around.

QB12 B. LEFTWICH - Loss of Greg Jones has turned this into a passing offence?

QB13 M. BULGER - New offence less explosive, but may help keep him healthy.

QB14 D. BLEDSOE - Connection with Glenn still there but Romo looming actually concerns me slightly.

QB15 D. CARR – Lack of a running threat could force HOU to really open up.

QB16 D. BREES – Impressive. Expected a slow start from this offence. Top-10 upside from here.

QB17 D. CULPEPPER – I had him awfully overrated pre-season. Risky even as QB2.

QB18 J.P. LOSMAN – Price and Reed exceeding my expectations; should open things up for Lee Evans.

QB19 R. GROSSMAN – Is this Bears football? Really like him as a passer but I’m shopping him this week.

QB20 S. McNAIR – Solid but less upside than the others in this range.

QB21 J. KITNA – Martz has him on pace for 600 attempts.

QB22 P. RIVERS – I'm sold on Rivers but SD is all about Tomlinson and Turner.

QB23 C. FRYE – I see CLE pulling in the reigns to establish some balance.

QB24 C. PENNINGTON –Back to earth after early-week fireworks. A tad low here perhaps.

QB25 M. BRUNELL – Meh. All those shiny weapons in WAS and I still can’t get excited about this guy.

QB26 V. YOUNG – Will have a few moments in this pass-happy offence short of weapons.

QB27 B. JOHNSON – Johnson’s a winner but I have such little faith in his receivers.

QB28 A. SMITH – Lacking red-zone weapons right now. Look to pick him up in dynasty leagues.

QB29 M. LEINART – Difference between Cincinnati and Arizona offensively starts and ends up front.

QB30 A. BROOKS – Wash your memory of his top-10 past.

QB31 T. GREEN – Figures to rank much higher on a PPG basis, but who knows what his future holds?

QB32 B. GRADKOWSKI – Guessing things get worse before they get better in TB.

Edit 10/05 to bump M. Brunell (by 1TD) from QB29 to QB25.

That's a very solid list, especially your top 10. The only people I think you are quite a bit off on are Bulger and Rothlisberger. If he stays healthy (and I am assuming he will), I have Bulger around #8 from here forward, while Big Ben won't receive enough attempts to end up top 10. I also think Bledsoe, Pennington, Grossman and Kitna will end up a bit higher, while Vick, Plummer and Losman are too high.

Excellent starting point for discussion though!

Good stuff. Interesting that you're not buying into Frye's early numbers, and you have Grossman lower than a lot of people would at this point.

QB7 B. ROETHLISBERGER - Shakes off a month worth of rust. Passing opps way up over past seasons
.I was very high on him this year (He's my QB1 in a 14-team league), but I've been a little worried of late. I'm hoping the bye-week does him some good.
QB11 J. PLUMMER - Important week 3 win foreshadows turn-around.
He was dropped in the same league.
QB21 J. KITNA – Martz has him on pace for 600 attempts.
Considering how much the Lions are throwing, I might bump him up to the mid-teens (above Losman, Culpepper and McNair).
QB29 M. BRUNELL – Meh. All those shiny weapons in WAS and I still can’t get excited about this guy.
Below Leinart? Either you're sold on Leinart, or you REALLY don't like Brunell. Seems a tad low to me.

QB2 E. MANNING -Too high and I thought I was high on him.

QB5 M. HASSELBECK - Again too high and he will only get this high is SA misses the rest of the season.

QB24 C. PENNINGTON - WOW way way Low.

They've probably wanted that all along, but the o-line and defense won't allow it. I believe it will continue to be all Frye all the time, baby!
That's certainly possible. Frye's been a blast to watch. But I think he'll be reigned in regardless of the o-line and defence. The way I figure it, the Browns could be 3-1 right now. They lost the ball control battle decidedly weeks 1 through 3 while going 0-3.I'll ignore last week because, heh, it was the Raiders. Most teams playing outside of Indy need to control the ball to win, and everyone (including Crennel) knows it.Losing the TOP battle is a symptom of getting behind early in games. But excess turnovers seriously compound the issue and make winning games unlikely.Which leads me to believe Frye will be reigned in.

LOL at Losman above Grossman
My buddy and I were discussing Grossman from here on out. In another month, it's going to be getting COLD and BREEZY in the Windy City. During home games, it's going to be more difficult to throw the rock. I think Grossman has another good 4 weeks, then drops after that.

LOL at Losman above Grossman
Against the grain, but it is what it is ... here's what I'm projecting for 12 remaining games:Losman: 2280 pass yards, 13 TD, 11 INT. 160 rush yards, 2 TD, 4 fumbles lost.Grossman: 2605 pass yards, 15 TD, 11 INT. 20 rush yards, 0 TD, 3 fumbles lost.I have both on my team, see them as equals FF-wise, and hope I can sell high on Grossman this week.In any case, looking forward to BUF @ CHI this weekend.

I like this top 10, but have a few modifications on mine:QB07 M. BULGER - offense starting to click, talented WRs, proven OCQB10 D. BLEDSOE - proven veteran on talented team driving for playoffs, he'll be starting until injuryI'd move Ben R and Vick out of the top 10 and replace with these.

So, if Grossman is currently ahead of Losman and you project Grossman to have better (even slightly) numbers the rest of the way, how does Losman end up higher than Grossman at the end of the year? Kinda sounds like a homer pick. ;)

Total points McNabb will finish in the top 3. Grossman is too low I know its early but they are playing pretty good and have solid receing options on the bears. I think E. Manning will slip out of the top 5 along with Hasselbeck. He has been playing very well in games they absolutely had to pass to get back in the game but still throws a high % of ints . I am expecting Tiki and Jacobs to kick it up very soon and then Eli numbers will start to come down. Kitna probably needs to be in the top 10 or top 15. Detroit has no defense and he will have to pass early and often. Like some of the rest said Pennington is too low and no way will Rothlisberger finish in the top ten.

My main change would be Leftiwch and big Ben. Ben would be down at the 9th spot for me, Plummer and Vick down a little as well. Leftwich is in the top 10, especially as the season gets towards FF playoff time. Look at this schedule and try not to salivate too much. With how the D's have faired so far this year, there are only 2 games left on Jax schedule that are even remotely tough against the pass.Week Opp

Thanks to all for your feedback.

I'll definitely take a deeper look at Kitna. There's a lot to like in his situation.

I just haven't yet gotten my head around Kitna being an above-average play with Furrey, Hakim, etc in the supporting cast.

I haven't watched any Detroit games yet either so maybe I should :D

And it seems I haven't made it clear enough that this is for the remaining games only, and not a year-end standing. I'll edit the OP.

Good points on Bledsoe. I should find room to bump his numbers. Not yet for Bulger though. I think he's slightly overrated and a marginal FF starter.Multiple rushing scores in '03 and '04 really bumped his fantasy stock. It appears his comp% will be reduced in this year's offence and perhaps YPA as well.He will need those rushing scores or many more passing attempts to match past FF finishes IMO.
