Louis Murphy (1 Viewer)

3 games into the season he has 15/238/1.

Not a bad start and he has the Texans porous pass D up next.

What does everyone think about the start? Fluke or for real?

I think he gets underrated because he was a mid round draft pick, but it looks to me like he has all the tools to be a #1.

Thoughts?

Guys and especially owners what is the word on Louis Murphy? I know he had a terrible game and cost his team a victory with not securing the pass that was intercepted still he has been productive when healthy. Are any of you dropping him or are you holding? I am considering picking up one of this week's flavors like a Bush or a Torain or a Tolbert but I am wondering how much I am over reacting to the terrible game he had. Perhaps next week he is right back out there doing what he was doing up until last game.

What do you think?

Holding for now, to see how his shoulder heals.

Oct 4 WR Louis Murphy wasn't himself Sunday, and didn't deny it. The Raiders leading receiver approached the game unsure if he'd be active with a bruised clavicle until going through pre-game warm-ups. He said he felt good before putting the pads on and against no contact. Once the game was underway it was a different story. "It was hurting, man, especially on blocking plays, it was hard for me to block guys early in the game," Murphy said. Murphy couldn't hang on to the game's final play, a fourth-and-16 pass from Gradkowski that bounced off his chest following contact with a defender and ended up a game-clinching interception from Troy Nolan. "He just hit me and the ball came out," Murphy said. "I should have had that one." Cable said he wasn't aware of Murphy's shoulder being a problem during the game. He was barely aware of Murphy at all. "He felt pretty good coming in," Cable said. "Only on that last play did I even notice him."
So it sounds like Murphy kept the pain to himself and didn't tell the coaching staff. At least, that's what the story above indicates.

He's injured

Is he better than DHB or does Bruce just look his way more?
He's a better receiver than DHB at this point, when he's healthy. But he also will have to deal with Chaz Schilens at some point, who may be a better receiver. I wouldn't expect numbers like the first three games, except in isolation.

Murphy just has better hands than DHB.DHB actually has 6 more targets than Murphy over W2 - W4 (29 vs. 23). And 2 less receptions (10 vs. 12). Murphy's hands aren't that great, but DHB's compete for all time bad.

So how does the Moss trade affect Murphy?

Kidding.

Just wondering if this shoulder injury is looking like a lingering thing or if he's going to be back up to speed quickly. Any homers hearing anything?

I'm in a start 3 WR league with DeSean, Nicks and (rotating flavor of the week)... The Murphy owner just dropped him last night, I'm guessing out of panic. I have the #10 Waiver so I doubt that he falls to me.. but I would have no problem leaving him in as my #3 WR for the rest of the season.

I dropped Murphy and got moreno from waivers... I have AJ and Roddy White as my WR1/2 and for my bench I have S.Moss and Mike Williams (TB)... was that a good move?

And in the bonehead move of the year, started him for the first time last week over TO, costing me not only my game, but high score of the week. Obviously going back to TO this week so look for a big game from Murphy.

From rotoworld last evening:

Raiders WRs Louis Murphy (clavicle) and Darrius Heyward-Bey (groin) are both practicing in full this week.

They're also expected to have a much bigger role this week on quick-hitters to counteract a productive Chargers pass rush. "They've got to play big, and they’re definitely going to get that opportunity," coach Tom Cable said. Murphy is back to WR3 status, though DHB can't be trusted.

Whew, I thought I was the only one who had made that mistake! While I still have little confidence in Palmer's noodle arm, it's back to TO this week against Tampa.I actually cut Murphy this week, so that I could add Michael Bush.

Loving him in the subscriber contest. Adding him was the very last roster change I made. Can't believe I didn't go back and screw myself over by trimming him.

Even a blind squirrel...

Sounds like a gamer. :lmao:

I started him last week as well because I was forced to having Miles Austin on a bye. What are people thoughts on Murphy vs. Manningham? Besides last weeks stinker Manningham has been fairly consistent with 85, 75, and 78 yards with one touchdown.

I personally like Manningham over Murphy but depends on the matchup of course. It's not like Manningham is a stud. The Giants are always run first, Manningham will only get his numbers in a shootout. He's clearly the 4th option on the Giants passing game. Nicks/Boss/Smith/Manningham is the way that I look at it.

Schillens is an old wives tale. I'm pretty sure he doesn't really exist.

Boss seems an afterthought this year. I've seen Manningham get targeted a lot in close games and early in games.I like Murphy a lot. I would have trouble starting him until he shows he's healthy. But compared to Manningham, I'd rather have him in all formats.

Murphy update:

Louis Murphy re-injured his clavicle in the Raiders’ Week 7 rout of Denver — an injury that’s plagued him since Week 3.The Raiders have let Murphy play through the injury, and he’s been almost a complete non-factor with six catches for 99 yards combined in his last four games. Murphy might be allowed to continue to play hurt against Seattle in Week 8, but he’ll need to be on fantasy benches until he shows he’s healthy. Oct. 24 – 11:28 pm et

Murphy out this Sunday vs Seahawks

PFT: Murphy has bruised lungBy Jerry McDonald - NFL WriterTuesday, October 26th, 2010 at 3:32 pm in Oakland Raiders.Profootballtalk.com reports wide receiver Louis Murphy will miss the Seahawks game with a bruised lung. The item did not cite a source. When Raiders coach Tom Cable spoke to the Bay Area media Monday, he said he didn’t know exactly what was wrong with Murphy, saying it was “something going on in the chest area, looks to be a like a contusion, but how severe it is and how much it limits him is really the question.”Murphy collided with teammate Marcel Reece along the sideline. Murphy leads Raiders wide receivers with 21 receptions for 337 yards but has just five receptions over his last three games since sustaining a clavicle injury.Cable indicated that rookie Jacoby Ford would likely have an increased role if Murphy were injured.“I’m excited about being able to count on him and where he can help this team now,” Cable said. “I think his role can expand and is certainly ready to.”

DHB time?
DHB was inactive last game due to an "undsiclosed illness". Seemed Ok afterward.Honestly, I'd stay away from Raider WR's. They are going to use a combination of guys like Jacoby Ford, JLH, DHB, and Nick Miller. I'd expect any one of these to have the upside of a 3 catch game. The only reasonably secure deduction for Campbell's targets are DMC and Zach Miller. These are the must start players. Everyone else is a bit of a gamble.ETA: FWIW, Cable spoke glowingly of rookie Jacoby Ford, and talked of expanding his role. I personally like Nick Miller, who is a Wes Welker type.
