Your the LSU man. We expect you to have contacts either within the LSU organization, or thru LSU fan message boards. Step up your game for your friends here in the shark pool. :)

The fan message boards are all talking about Doug Planchard, a TE, and his workout today. They are laughing because this guy was such a regular at bars in BR that he is rumored to have a bouncing job when this whole football thing ends.

11:15, there will be a fish fry lunch for all of the scouts and team representatives, of which there will be over 100, and then they'll have a separate lunch for the media at 12:15. Workouts will commence at 1 p.m.

RUSSELL RUNS A 4.83

LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell ran a good-but-not-great forty-yard dash at his March 14 Pro Day workout, clocking a 4.83.

Some scouts compare Russell to Jags quarterback Byron Leftwich because they both have big arms but limited mobility. Four years ago, Leftwich ran a 4.89 at his Pro Day workout.

But Rex Grossman ran a 5.13 that same year. In contrast, Carson Palmer (the No. 1 overall pick in 2003) cranked out a 4.63.

Russell weighed in at 256 pounds, nine pounds less than what he weighed at the scouting combine more than two weeks ago. He was criticized by some for looking soft in the middle at his combine scale session.

Other former Tigers who worked out on Wednesday include receiver Craig Davis, who registered a 4.44, and receiver Dwayne Bowe, who ran a 4.49. Safety LaRon Landry did not run.

Yeah, the Russell weight drop was kinda expected, but I still fail to understand why he showed up soft to the Combine knowing the _only_ thing he was going to do there was be weighed and measured.

I'm dropping Russel down some, I thought he was a sure first overall pick, now I'm thinking at worse he's akili smith at best he's daunte culpepper, but he's probably byron leftwich. Actually, I like Adrian Peterson #1 now, then Brady Quinn, and then Calvin Johnson. What do you think?

So are you sayin thats the order the draft will go or the order of talent, either way its laughable

A lot of times these guys are doing the award circuit after the bowls, Troy Smith mentioned he had done the same thing.

I think at best Randall Cunningham, at worst Vince Evans, but is probably Doug Williams.Either way, he's definitely black.

For some reason I feel as if Quinn will go before Russell.

His mobility will have a huge impact on where he is drafted.

After a jaw-dropping pro day cementing himself as the should-be #1 pick in the draft and #2 player in the draft?Good one.
:goodposting: The "draft guy" (not Kiper) on Sportscenter tonight was drooling over his workout.

Oh my god! Wow, I guess comparing players with similar skillsets to each other but coincidentally them being all black is a hate crime? God forbid I compare Jay Cutler to Brett Favre... Moron.See, Daunte, Byron, and JeMarcus all are big qb's with huge cannons... Let me try and think of some white guys that are like them... Nothing really comes to mind. Roethlisberger is big but doesn't have the arm strength. Manning isn't as big or the arm strength, Cutler has really good armstrength but isn't as big. So yeah, you got me I'm comparing them to each other because they're all negros.

Gee, buddy, I was just agreeing with you.Well, except for the Akili Smith comparison.*cough*

But akili smith is black, too.

Fine then, a bust like VY, although Vince isn't big, he's just sorta tall.

There was speculation that the Raiders were trying to get Leftwich. Why not get someone identical, and less injury prone at #1.

Todd McShay, senior analyst for ESPN's Draft Insider, said:

"His footwork for such a big quarterback was surprising. He was nimble in his dropbacks and when he's rolling out and throwing on the run."

I have never understood, and still don't understand, the comparisons to Leftwich. JR can move in the pocket.

i saw on ESPNNEWS that McShay fella saying it was the most impressive QB workout he has ever seen. Ever. I don't know how many he has seen, but thats a pretty bold statement
