LSU vs Alabama game thread (1 Viewer)

Man I'm so sick of hearing them keep calling Brad Wing's kicking 'rugby-style'. He played Australian Rules football, not freaking that bum-sniffing rugby crap.

Schedule is ridiculous. Alabama's last game was six weeks ago. They are now closer to spring practice than the regular season.

All said Saban and his staff are much better at actual coaching so the layoff is huge advantage Alabama.

I have never seen or cannot recall a HC being so badly outcoached as Miles was by Saban. Good effort by the defense, what a sad waste. Absolutely disgustingly pathetic lack of effort from the coach, discipline, gameplanning, conditioning, mental and emotional preparation, everything - and then absolutely no adjustments in-game. If there were such a thing as coaching malpractice, this would be a textbook example.

Most boring game ever. I know the defenses are strong but those offenses are just pathetic and should be embarrassed.

How bout having the game on a Friday night? It just doesn't make sense to me. Basketball is the same way. Why? I remember when I was really young I had my mom tape the national championship game in hoops because she wouldn't let me stay up to watch it on a school night.

It's a shame, that after winning a title, so many 'Bama kids are going to have to take a pay cut to turn pro.

lol

My God, what a defense Alabama put together.

college football, the bowl system, and everything that comes with it sucks.

i enjoy no organization that does not crowna champ with a playoff.

love football and didnt watch a bit of BS championship, as I see I didnt miss a thing, who knew after a month off that these teams would suck.

if you like the bowl system or the way the ncaa does anything, you do not like football.

Both these teams were regularly scoring 30 points or more in the regular season. The defenses are just that damn good. Bama alone is expected to have 4 players be first round NFL picks on defense. How can people not appreciate a great defense just like a great offense? I love it when a quarterback is made to look like a complete joke.

And that they did. LSU looked like Vanderbuilt or whatever bottom dwelling team you can think of. They didnt even get 100 total offensive yards in the game. Ownage by the Bama defense.

:goodposting: Two great defenses on display last night. LSU was able to put up over 40 points on the Rose, Orange, and Cotton bowl champions. No matter how bad the ofense looked to the eyes, shutting it out is damn impressive.

I only watched the 1st half of the game

I prefer a good defensive battle to an offensive shoot out and there is no doubt that Alabama’s defense is nasty but there was a lot of terrible offense by LSU in the 1st half.

False starts, bad snaps from center, and the interception Jefferson threw when it looked like he was going to run so the wr or rb turned away from him and started to look for someone to block then Jefferson threw the ball to the person that the receiver was going to block.

Jefferson was so bad last night I was wondering if he made a trip to Vegas during his time off

Bama gets into this game without even winning their division much less conference. Then they win this game and now are National Champions. Lets just call college football what it is: Money Making Scheme. Where they put teams into the dance that will sell the most/bring the most viewers, not the most deserving. Where Reggie Bush, Cam Newton, etc get paid and nobody cares until later. Shame on you BCS= Big Crappy System

You're saying Bama didn't deserve to be in the game? I kinda think they proved they did.

I don't think that's what he's saying at all, and I think it prooved little more than a reminder of how stupid the BCS is.

Okay. I agree the BCS isn't the best and could use some major changes, but why are they "stupid?" They're turning a profit, so they are doing something right.

So App State proved they should be in the Big Ten because they beat Michigan that one year? Any team can beat any other team on any given day.

I think we should agree to disagree. IMO Bama absolutely deserved to be in the title game. There's plenty to complain about with the BCS but I don't think putting the Crimson Tide in the title game is one of them.

Which team would you want to go to the National Championship?Team A:11-14-1 vs top 250-1 vs top 10429.7 Offensive Yards per game+26.6 PPGTeam B:11-22-1 vs top 251-1 vs top 10522.8 Offensive Yards per game+21.5 PPGTeam C:11-14-0 vs top 252-0 vs top 10546.1 Offensive Yards per game+21.9 PPGTeam D:11-11-0 vs top 250-0 vs top 10481.3 Offensive Yards per game+25.5 PPGTeam E:11-12-1 vs top 250-1 vs top 10489.3 Offensive Yards per game+21.3 PPG

I appreciate good/great defenses...but that LSU offense was not great by any stretch.Great defenses make great offenses look average. They also make average (at best) offenses look terrible. That is what happened.

Very glad I only watched until the end of the 3rd quarter. This BCS National Championship was a snorer.

I hate the BCS as much as the next guy but the whole "didn't win their conference/division" thing is just stupid and has nothing to do with it.If anything a playoff system, which all of us want, will just bring even more teams that didn't win their conference/division into the fold.Green Bay didn't win the NFC North last year.

The Packers weren't placed into the National Championship game either. They earned it, on the road for 3 straight games to get to the Super Bowl. The playoff system would have teams earn their way, instead of lets see how our ratings will be.

At least a 4 team plus one that pitted LSU vs Stanford and Alabama vs Oklahoma St. I'd have enjoyed that.

You can apply this logic in a million different places. Alabama did a lot more to "earn" a shot at the title than teams like Green Bay or Seattle did to "earn" a shot at the playoffs last year. There are a million reasons that the BCS sucks. I'm with you on that. I hate it and want it abolished as soon as possible. But "they didn't even win their conference" is not one of those reasons, and it's a really really stupid argument when the alternative that we all want will give even more teams that didn't win their conference a shot.

The BCS is by far the most unfair post-season system of any sport. On the flipside, for all its flaws it probably does give us a champion that is actually the best team more often than any other sport, and especially more often than the NFL where we constantly have above average teams that get hot at the right time winning it all.

The BCS needs to go, no doubt about it, but let's stick to the 100 major reasons for it and not venture out into the petty stuff that let's the people making the decisions write off our complaints as bitter fans of a team that it didn't work out well for (such as "they only chose Alabama over Okie St for ratings").

It will probably have to happen in steps.A 4-team plus one would be a great start. After that you go to 8-team with the conference winners and two at large teams and that's probably where it'll end. I doubt we'll ever get to 16 teams, nor would I really want that many.

I wonder why they didn't replace Jefferson with Lee. After that interception pitch to Mosely, I would have replaced Jefferson at that point.

I agree that it pits the best team more often in the championship game than any other sport. But that's the problem IMO, is it really exciting? Hoosiers and Rudy are popular movies because the underdog had a chance. Do you have more fun picking the NCAA Basketball tourney bracket or the NCAA FBS bowl pick em? I take 5 minutes to do the Bowl pick em and upwards of an hour going back and forth on the Tourney bracket.

Butler was an awesome story that will be remembered years from now, as will VCU. The FBS championship game has lost it's thunder IMO.

My argument wasn't because Alabama didn't win their conference, it's because they didn't even win their division. What if in 2011 the NBA decided the Chicago/Miami series was so good that they bypassed the Western Conference and had them replay the series again for the Championship? Dallas wouldn't have had a shot.

Alabama made it to that game because more people know Nick Saban than Mike Gundy. Alabama has had success the past few years, so people know them. Lastly, Alabama fans would travel better and produce a better overall $$$ amount.

No i'm not a Okie State/Stanford/Oregon fan.
