LT or Rivers? (1 Viewer)

It's strange to say, but considering the roles Turner and Sproles can fill, I think the Chargers need Rivers more than LT on the field. Volek was good as a fill-in, but I don't see him playing well for a full game in New England.

The Patriots will be heavily-favored no matter who lines up for the Chargers, but Rivers/Turner/Sproles gives them a better shot than Volek/LT. What do you think?

I have a hard time believing that either of these guys will miss the AFC championship game against NE. Especially when both looked like they could have went in during the colts game. I'm sure NE is game planning for both as they should.

strangely enough, it's obviously rivers.

not that he's more talented than tomlinson, but i'd feel alot more comfortable with tomlinson's back-ups. turner and sproles can certainly get the job done.

Why would they have held them out of the colts game if they could have gone? they were losing at the time.

They did NOT hold them out, at least LT... a trainer was reported during the game as saying that LT was cleared to play, but chose not to.

As a general rule, RBs are much more fungible than QBs. The best QB is always >>>>> the best RB.

Now down to the specific. Is a 3300 yard, low 20s TDs, double digit INT thrower more important than a 1800+ all purpose yard, 15+ TD, 50+ reception all purpose RB?

Thats very interesting. Any links to that story? If he was cleared to play and chose not to, I would lose a lot of respect for him.

The Patriots defense has not been impressing in recent games. I'm seeing a lot of missed tackles this year, which is highly uncharacteristic of a Belichick defense. The one consistent strength of the Patriots defense over the years has been in shutting down power backs. Michael Turner is a power back and I fully expect he will get neutralized on Sunday. LT is a slasher and the Patriots over the years are less successful against that type

They need LT to win this game.

Rivers was awesome against the Colts, despite the poor handling of getting in the plays and snapping in time. He was great stepping into the pocket and hitting receivers on 3rd-and-long for 1st downs. Not easy to do against that Colts team in their dome. Despite Volek leading the team on the game-winning drive, Rivers was the reason San Diego lives to play another day.

Rivers absolutely needs to play like that again for San Diego to advance to SB42.

I'd be curious to see the answers if the question included Gates.
I think the emergence of Jackson and Chambers shows that the Chargers can win without him. Not knocking Gates; the best formula to San Diego somehow beating New England would include that weapon. But I think they can win games with the receiving talent they have playing up to their potential.

Sorry, I only heard it on the radio. But I have been looking and if I find something concrete, I'll post it.
