LT (1 Viewer)

You probably could play with it, but with Michael 'the Burner' Turner, and the Seadonkeys next on the docket, would Shotty?

Didn't Peyton play a couple years ago with a busted jaw? I seem to recall something about his jaw being wired after taking a shot to the chin.

turner is not bad but the chargers are LT. no LT and they will not win next week.Would they play him i would say no

He looked ok at the end of the game. Saw him with trainers near the end of the game and he was pointing to an area around his jaw/ear. Saw him smiling and joking with several Chiefs after the game so I am going to assume he is ok... Knock on wood.

As noted in another LT thread, with Brees' injury last year, one would have to think that Marty will think long and hard about leaving LT out there for a long stretch, even if he can play.

found this link at the chargers homer message board:

http://wfan.stats.com/fb/recap.asp?g=20061217024

here is what LT said:

Tomlinson said he took a shot to the jaw late in the game when the Chargers were stuffed inside the Chiefs 10, and was hit again later.

"I don't think it's serious. But even if it is, I'm still going to play with it."
just because hes says he will play does not mean anything, it is not up to him. and it is not good to hear him say "but even if it is"

I saw him holding it at the end of the game & getting checked out. here's hoping he's ok: :loco:
it was a problem for him after the game, did you hear him talking
nope what did he say?
it is not what he said,it was how he was talking it was just not right
so mr.ried I can't find anything anywhere about x-rays, do have a link for this? or is this just speculation on your part?

they also said on espn last night when they showed the highlights of the game

getting x-rays does not automatically mean broken jaw. At least we will know something today. Here's hoping LT is ok, but if I had to Turner vs. Seattle is still a decent matchup.

Even when the game was out of reach...LT was still in the game.

San Diego Chargers at 02:06 1-10-SD39 (2:06) L.Tomlinson left tackle to SD 40 for 1 yard (D.Johnson, J.Allen). 3-5-SD44 (1:13) M.Turner left tackle to KC 49 for 7 yards (J.Page). 1-10-KC49 (:30) P.Rivers kneels, dead ball declared at SD 49 for -2 yards.
NFL.com doesn't have what happened on 2nd.....anybody know if it was an LT carry? And does this jaw injury, even if minor, get Marty to realize that he needs to pull LT sooner?

yes he got hit two times in the jaw on his last carry. you would think they would pull him but he stays in the game to get 200 yards or a extra td all the time even if they are up by 30 points, so i do not know if they will ever pull him.

All I can say to all the obvious LT opponents in this thread who have recently been beaten by him or have the misfortune of having to face him in your championship.... you can dare to dream!

Why was he even in the game at that point?
I have to admit, I fly off the handle when star athletes are left in the game during garbage time. Last night was no exception.
Marty seems to be very guilty of this during this season, TD record or not. Granted, LT has been healthy while Turner has been banged up (as opposed to the other way around last year), but they absolutely need to use Turner more.

That was ALL I was coming to post here. WTF are they thinking at that point? Stupid little things can happen out there running it up the gut to eat up clock...

In my main $$ league LT got me to the championship game. In my ESPN $ league I survived LT to advance, too. :nerd:edited to add that having Turner makes this is one of the precious few seasons where I have been able to land a stud's backup who might be in a position to really pay dividends in the championship game...Though I'm hoping LT goes.

do you guys remember the first few games of the season? Turner was used a bunch when warranted and in an attempt to keep LT fresh for the entire season. Turner has been hurt for the past month so using him was not really an option lately.

LT was hugging KC players after the game and bumping his jaw against their pads/head while doing so. He also said it shouldn't be a big deal. I thought he spoke normally in the postgame interview.

Regardless, Marty may want to be cautious. However, SD hasn't clinched homefield throughout, so that's motivation for LT to be in there.

:goodposting: Even if Baltimore loses to Pitt, SD still needs to beat Seattle to clinch HFA. (Indy needs to lose tonite or next week too)

:goodposting: Poor Marty cant win. All I remember hearing in the beginning of the season was that they should use LT more. And that they were using Turner too much killing LTs value.

What does LT being in the game with 4 minutes left and the score 20-3 have to do with clinching homefield? :goodposting:Is the NFL using the old BCS computer with margin of victory used for calculations?

it was 17-9, only up one score.
I guess it was at the TWO minute mark and it was 20-9.Dang. A guy turns 35 and his memory goes to hell. :wall:Still doesn't make any sense why he's in with 2 left and up by 11.

That's from a fantasy standpoint. I was referring more from an NFL standpoint, where they have a very capable backup to spell LT. As noted, Turner has been hurt, so spelling LT has not been an option of late, but perhaps going forward Marty will try to avoid another Brees situation.

They stopped using Turner much during the games long before MT got banged up.

We'll have to see what the x-ray looks like. But yes, this is definitely not a Rothlisberger situation where he's going to have his jaw wired shut or something. If anything, maybe a cracked bone in the back of the jaw. No idea how serious/painful that is or what impact it would have on playing time.

I assume you've heard him doing interviews before, and you think his speech was affected by the injury?I mean, he did just finish the game. I didn't notice anything other than him opening his mouth wide one time as to "flex" it out.

I'm sure Marty's rooting for the Bengals tonight, it would make his life a lot easier next two weeks.

I could see pushing Ladanian, but this is really a matter of do you want to play Baltimore home or on the road.

They can beat Baltimore on the road with a health(ier) LT

They can't beat Baltimore at home without LT.

Tonight should be quite telling depending on the result, myself I like the Bungles outright which would keep LT OUT next week.

So you think that SD would concede home field advantage to Baltimore in an effort to give LT some time off? Seems unlikely to me.

Highly unlikely.Thing is, with a jaw injury like this, he'll either go or not - there won't be any #####-footing around. You were hopefully smart enough to have hung onto Turner the entire season, just in case.
