LT (1 Viewer)

I saw a segment after the game where he was in plain clothes, talking about the records he took over during the course of the game. There was no swelling and he was speaking absolutely normally. No grimacing, no flexing. If it is a break, it didn't seem bad enough to bother him very much, and not enough of a concern for him to not give interviews after the game was over.

All I can say is that it needed to happen BEFORE the 85 yards TD run.

In my leagues scoring, LT got 18.5 points on that one run. :bowtie:

I saw an NFLN interview after the game in street clothes and he looked as normal as ever. I agree with some of the other posters that the last series for LT was unnecessary. The game was over and Turner is a better pure power rusher anyway. Hopefully Marty learned his lesson.

You have to sit through a season ticket commercial before the interview comes up. You decide how he sounds and make your amateur diagnosis.
He sounds fine. Interesting to hear him mention that the injury actually happened earlier in the night, and he only decided to come out after getting hit in the jaw a second time.

It seems like the Chargers really want to get him the rushing title this year. He also has a shot at breaking the total yards from scrimmage record this year. If he's not in seriously bad shape it seems like he's going to continue to get appreciable playing time the next two games. Hopefully the jaw isn't a big deal.

Dammit. If he wouldnt have come out for that last play, he probably would have got at least 1 more yard, which would have given me 4 more bonus points for hitting 200yds.But I aint complaining. 199yds with 2 TDs (including an 85 yarder), cant ask for much more than that....except for one more measly yard!!!!!!!!! ;)

Regardless, Marty may want to be cautious. However, SD hasn't clinched homefield throughout, so that's motivation for LT to be in there.
What does LT being in the game with 4 minutes left and the score 20-3 have to do with clinching homefield? :lmao:Is the NFL using the old BCS computer with margin of victory used for calculations?
it was 17-9, only up one score.
no it was 20-9 the game was over
They needed a first down to end the game. It wasn't exactly a blowout.

He did get>200 yards from scrimmage with a 5 yd reception. Perhaps your rules aren't specific enough and you can still get your bonus....

Maybe it's to make up for those years that LT got snubbed for the ProBowl because the Chargers didn't have great/winning records...Imagine this is the RB people vehemently were saying was not worth the #1 overall pick on these boards...He deserves every ounce of whatever he accomplishes

What's the news here? I have found very little on this LT injury. Are people just freaking out over a little thing or is there a chance LT is really hurt?

:banned: It's interesting that it seems many of the people who did intimate he wasn't the clear #1 pick don't post much at all anymore.

THE NEWSRunning back LaDainian Tomlinson's record setting 2006 season avoided an early ending when he received good news on about his jaw on Monday. The AP reported that X-rays did not show serious damage to his left temporomandibular joint. Tomlinson was upbeat about the injury, saying "I've dealt with it before. And I'm going to continue to play. I wouldn't make a big deal about it."Our ViewSounds good to us, and time the all-time single season touchdown record holder says he's going to play, during his record setting season, we recommend that you keep him in your lineup.

anyone thinking LT shouldn't have been the #1 pick didnt pay attention.

From the Chargers official website:

L.T. is O.K.

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson said he was feeling fine Monday after leaving Sunday’s game with some soreness in his jaw. Tomlinson said that x-rays came back negative and that he was simply experiencing some pain in his jaw.

“I’ve had a little problem with it,” Tomlinson said. “Yesterday after taking a shot there, it kind of came back. It’s no big deal. I’ve dealt with it before. I’m going to continue to play. I wouldn’t make a big deal out of it.”

Tomlinson has said several times this season that he’s extremely pleased with where he’s at physically, and that’s evident by some of the long runs he’s ripped off in recent weeks.

“It was apparent in that 85-yard run that he’s still fresh,” Schottenheimer said. “He slowed down there just a bit to give Vincent (Jackson) an opportunity to get up there on (Greg Wesley) and off he went. He’s fresh and he’s obviously playing at a very, very high level.”

Michael Turner’s impressive return Sunday gives the Chargers an opportunity to reduce Tomlinson’s load as they head toward the playoffs, but Schottenheimer did not commit to doing so Monday.

“I think what we have to do is see where we are,” Schottenheimer said. “There’s a terrific sense of comfort in my mind when he needs a blow that you can roll number 33 out there. Probably the most violent hit of the night was his hit on (Lenny Walls) on the final play. You talk about power. Our purpose right now is Seattle obviously and to try to give ourselves an opportunity to get homefield advantage.”
Breath easy. LT will continue to roll and put up monster numbers just in time for your championship game this week.

SD will still have everything to play for no matter what happens in the Balt. and Indy games. With a SD loss Balt. and Indy will remain one game back of them going into week 17. Which means they will not even bother to look at those scores cause they have to win the Sea. game than they can st back week 17.

I'm pretty sure that an Indy loss guarantees a 1st round bye for the Chargers. There'd still be home field to play for if they met Baltimore.

here is what LT said:

Tomlinson said he took a shot to the jaw late in the game when the Chargers were stuffed inside the Chiefs 10, and was hit again later.

"I don't think it's serious. But even if it is, I'm still going to play with it."
Shut up, you had me at "I'm still going to play with it."My manlove grows stronger with each passing day for this young man.

Au contraire mon frere - Baltimore & Indy play in the early games in week 16. The Chargers will know if they've got anything to play for prior to their kickoff against the Seahawks this week. :deadhorse:
I wasn't joking in the other thread when I mentioned this should be stickied. The Chargers can't wrap up anything before they play this week... period.

LT and Jamal Lewis powered me to a money league victory in 2003 and I've been giddy for him ever since. Jamal? ...not so much.

A Baltimore win and a SD loss means the Ravens are on the inside track for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. SD lost to Baltimore in week 4, so they have the tie breakers based on head-to-head. San Diego needs to continue to win in order top maintain the No. 1 overall seed.On another note, the SD defense was playing to shut down LJ for two reason. The main reason was knowing that the KC offense goes as does LJ so stopping him would be a huge key to winning the game. Secondly, they knew that if they could shut down LJ that they could help LT maintain his lead for the rushing title. Mission accomplished seeing how LT has over 100 more rushing yards than LJ heading into week 16.

That's good news too. The worst case scenario for my team is for him to play a series or two then sit.I have M. Turner in both my teams with LT. And if he wasn't going to play (LT), I'd much rather Marty announce Turner the starter before the game starts so I can use him with confidence. If there is any type of question at game time, I'd be tempted to play them both. Turner in a half game may be better than my other flex options at this point. But if the Bolts still have to play/win to secure homefield throughout, I feel confident LT will play as normal.

All LT owners with playoffs that extend to week 17 are now also Ravens and Colts fans - what a tangled web FF weaves.
Fixed.

 How many times do we have to correct people about this.

Why should something that's just plain wrong be stickied? From the SD UnionTrib:

The Chargers could also get a first-round bye even with a loss at Seattle if Indianapolis loses at Houston.
Regardless I think LaDainian plays the next two weeks: he and the Chargers want him to get the rushing title and to try and break Faulk's yards from scrimage record.

Nothing should change this week. Even if the Ravens lose, the Chargers need to win to wrap up the No. 1 seed. For folks whose leagues go through Week 17 it gets a little more interesting. If the Ravens and Chargers win you'll probably have to wait until the end of the Ravens' early game that Sunday to find out if LT and Co. will play. If the Ravens win that last game, then San Diego will need to win to remain the No. 1 seed. If the Ravens lose, I would expect all of the Chargers key players to sit.Someone correct me if I'm wrong about the playoff ramifications but I believe that's how the scenario will unfold.

There's a difference between a first round bye and home field throughout. They cannot clinch homefield throughout with just a BAL or INDY loss. They still have to win to get homefield throughout.

Yes, good one, techincally I said they can't wrap up "anything" and you proved they can in fact wrap up second place. Of course, that has nothing to do with beating Baltimore for homefield throughout the playoffs, which is what this entire thread is about, but still... you got me.I've changed my mind. LT is sitting this week.
