Luck out 2-6 weeks with lacerated kidney (1 Viewer)

I brought low Bortles, guess he'll be my starter now
Yeah I'm in the same boat as you are. I picked up Bortles the first time Luck was out and kept him as my backup. Bortles has been putting up some decent numbers, but in my head I keep telling myself I'm not going far in the playoffs with Bortles as my QB. I'm hoping for some clarity soon on how long Luck will be out so I can drop him if he's done.

Hasselbeck is 2-0, he's been better than Luck this season.

Hasselback is the future for this team. It's about time management realized who the best QB on the squad is. It's best for the Colts to move on from the Luck experiment.
You two need to get better at baiting a hook.

Really?

He's already a top-10 fantasy QB and all his tough matchups are behind him.

His schedule the rest of the way looks pretty sweet, especially if you make it to the Week 16 title game: at NOS!

Heard he's out for the year and being placed on IR. Is this confirmed? Anyone else hear the same?
No, but I always though the 2-6 week window put out there was weird. Does anyone think that Luck could be back by week 12? I don't. And then by week 15 even? I still don't. I could see the Colts holding on to see if he can come back for the NFL playoffs, because the Colts still have a very good shot at winning the division.

Anyone have the balls to drop him? My gut tells me he's not coming back in time for FF playoffs. I got lucky and picked up Brees after someone dropped him early in the season.

I don't think he'll he back in time for fantasy playoffs.

But if I had him, I wouldn't drop him and let someone else grab him just in case I'm wrong.

Best case scenario has Luck coming back just in time for a couple of pretty nice matchups in weeks 15 and 16, so I wouldn't drop him. But, in a league that values QBs so little that Brees was dropped after a couple of mediocre games and a minor shoulder injury that kept him out just one week I'd say Luck is totally droppable.

He was dropped in my redraft LG. We have very short benches, so I'm not surprised. He's been out there since the news broke and no one is looking at him yet.

From Rotoworld:

Andrew Luck (kidney) said he's been throwing a "fair, intense amount" and is pain-free.

It's been about three weeks since Luck lacerated his kidney, and he remains at least another week away from returning in a best-case scenario. Still, signs are positive Luck will be back before the regular season is over. Dec 2 - 2:06 PM

For those in redrafts where he has been dropped, worth a pickup? Sweet playoff schedule:

Holy crap, wasn't expecting to read that already. That would be amazing if he could play next week. Probably unlikely I would guess.

I'm a psychiatrist so not my area of expertise. Would be hard to imagine how you would medically clear someone for a lacerated kidney. Maybe Dr. Bramel could weigh in here? I've spoken to my brother in law who is a urologist and he also has no idea. I mean how do you know when the kidney has healed? I would be concerned about Luck being hit and not throwing the ball as much.

Ultrasound or MRI I'd guess.

dump this loser or what?

I have bortles and Winston

Winston going this week probably roll with bortles for the rest of the way.

I want to dump luck to pickup Detroit dst.. I just want to make sure luck will be a trap if someone were to pick him up and play him week 16

If he's on a WW you have to look at your possible opponents especially the former Luck owner. If they are starting Al Smith or Rivers or Tannehill you don't want them just plucking Luck for a major upgrade on the eve of your week 15/16 bout. He could start practicing next week, who knows. Luck was having serious problems before the injury but even in bad games he was piling up major garbage time points.

Have Luck (Bortles and Carr).

Was lucky enough that injuries hit everyone and made good enough moves to get the bye this week.

Problem is...2 of the teams playing each other would be the 2 that may end up picking him up (QBs like Eli, Tannehill, Osweiler, R. Wilson).

Unfortunately, unless you are that confident he won't play, or won't play well...you have to keep him away from possible opponents.

Just a crappy situation....likely to get screwed in some form or fashion by Luck 2 years in a row (championship game last year when they played Dallas...oof)

Dropped him in my auction dynasty and re-acquired the next week for about 25% less, which means I can afford to keep him for next year.

I swooped him up from WW after he got dropped last week. My hope is he comes back looking good against HOU and is ready to drop TD bombs week 16. Guy had bad moments this year but a lot of that was obviously injuries which should be healed now

Yeah I don't think it is as simple as that
