This guy has been a top 25 OF for many years now and he seems to not be getting any love from any baseball writers this season. He finished 21st for OFs in my league last season. Sure, he is leaving a hitters park for a pitchers park, but he seems a little disgruntled last season. Maybe the new scenery is what he needs? Maybe I'm not seeing the big picture but he seems like a good value this year.

To me the drawbacks are many.1. He plays in a pitchers park. The last 3 years he has only hit .210 combined there.2. he is 39 years old3. he hasnt had a really good year since 20034. competition for at batsHe was really ranked 21st for OF in 2006? Sure his doubles and runs were great but .271 15 and 73 plus a .796 OPS? I have never really been a fan of his so I may be biased but I dont see him doing much this year. IMO I would rather take a flier on one of the younger OF.

Zero upside, really. He's been in decline for a long time, and I question whether he'll even be as productive as last year.

I agree, he isn't going to explode for 50 HRs again, but I could definately see a top 15-25 OF for the year. And if I can get that in the final rounds of my draft, I'll take it. He has a better lineup this year than last. He knows how to hit. You could do a lot worse than Gonzo for your 4th or 5th outfielder. I also don't see any competition for bats with him. They are paying him way too much $$$ for him to ride the pine.

He's old and not good.

Answer this - in the 15th round you can either have:

(a) old guy with no upside but you know he'll be OK.

(b) young guy with tons of upside but a risk because he's unproven.

go for (b) all the time.
