Lynch uncertain for Week 1 (1 Viewer)

Marshawn Lynch, RB, SEANews: Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is expected to play Sunday at Arizona, "unless something crazy happens," a source told Pro Football Talk. Lynch practiced only twice this week after dealing with back spasms for the past couple of weeks. Lynch rushed for 159 yards and no touchdowns in two games against a Cardinals' run defense that ranked just 21st in yards allowed on the ground last season.Analysis: This should help Fantasy owners set their lineups if they have to make a choice between Lynch and a player who starts at 1 p.m. ET. There are still some concerns over how much Lynch will play as he could split reps with rookie Robert Turbin and even Leon Washington, but if the report is accurate then Lynch should at least touch the ball a dozen times. We'll be first to know whether or not he'll be active this Sunday at roughly 3 p.m. ET here on CBSSports.com, so please check back then.

Fwiw the fbgs are split. Bloom sees lynch playing, Dodds does not...
Here's more - Lynch to play unless something "crazy happens"
Maybe he will play but I still have a tough time committing to him. He could reagravate his back early and I can't help but think Seattle is going to crush ariizona this week which might have the team pulling him early if that's the case.
Seattle is a 2.5 point favorite on the road with a rookie quarterback. I doubt they run away with the game.

Marshawn Lynch is expected to play, though Seattle will be mindful of the workload it gives him with his back spasms.

I'm a little confused by this. If back spasms are the problem and he's able to play, I'm guessing he's not currently having back spasms. If so, why would they have to limit his workload? It's not something you have to worry further injuring, right? So, it's a matter of pain tolerance. I just don't get it. Seems like it should be, not playing or a full workload, middle ground doesn't make sense.

I'm no doctor but I don't think it's just a matter of tolerating the pain. I think with the back spasms their will be some mobility issues if they start to act up. I also would imagine they could flare up due to physical exertion. We're basically talking about very tight muscles. If they did flare up I don't think he'd be able to perform during the game. I'm guessing that their could be some after affect if the muscles are over exerted as well.Never had back spasms and no doctor but this seems like common sense.

I have had back spasms before and you are right. One minute you feel great and you are working, or playing or doing whatever. Then you twist a certain way, bend down to pick something up, get up after you were sitting down and they flare up. Then you don't want to move or do anything. I am not sure how severe his are, but starting him might be risky today. One carry in and boom he is out for the game.

Spasms aren't an exact science. It's not that difficult to grasp.

I'm not a doctor either, hence my complete ignorance.
