Hi guys,

During week 1 Oak was torched, but He had just 2 solo TKL.

Is he starting?

We all wait for a different production....

Have you any news about his situation?

thanks

The Charger game was so strange, I think Huff deserves plenty of time. I believe he is a playmaker of Reed-like potential and I wish I owned him.

He is a rookie starting his first game agianst a team that threw it only 11 times (I think) and this really limits any DB stats. If you are expecting anything from him on a consistent basis or much of anything before mid-season then you are expecting to much.

Perhaps but the guy has the speed of a corner and size and power of a safety. If Oakland ever gets anything going he could be great. He is a rookie but a very good one.

Huff looked like he couldn't deal with the speed of the NFL on opening night. Grab the Safety for Buff Whitner if he is available. They just lost a safety for the year and he looked awesome!!!!

I think a SS should post different numbers if opponennts throw the ball just 11 times.

He should have been free to give run support or what?

He took bad angles on pursuit and appeared at times to be lost out there. the game seemed to move too quick for him. He better bring his A-Game this week with heap because the Ravens will throw early for sure

You would certainly think so, but its just one game. He may have been locked up with Gates alot, I wasn't watching him that close. Gates hauled in all of 2 passes and one od 'em was a TD.

I wrote this Tuesday morning after the game in another thread. It got buried pretty quickly but here you go.

Ok, so I decided to take a few days off from work. I am going to have some idle time this week and, well, figured I would hang out a little and share a few thoughts. First stop is M. Huff.

2 Tackles

1 Assist

Don't panic. Despite what the boxscore is telling you Huff had a solid first game.

Huff was rotated onto and off Gates all night. Several defenders took turns but Huff was often left alone to check Gates. That is a positive indicator. Yes, Gates took the rookie for 1 catch and 20 plus yards but I think Huff held is own in pass coverage. There were only 11 pass plays, which appears to be probelmatic, but the Raiders are not going to be that bad on offense all year. Well, maybe they could be that bad but that is another debate.

Huff was used in an active manner to help with run support and I recall him being sent on one pass blitz. That is another good sign. The Raiders are making use of his talent(s). He caught LT in the backfiled not once but twice on successive plays to start the 3rd quarter.

The negative is that Huff got caught up in the wash...often...around the line on run plays. He committted far too early and was eaten by lineman or that mammoth TE Manumaleuna. That guy is pushing 300. Anyway, rookie mistake around the line in run support. Huff is going to learn that guys are just a tad stronger and faster than your average D1 player. He is going to have to wait just a little longer before sticking his nose into the mix.

If you can find a Huff owner looking for an excuse to dump him, then make a move. Considering the general state of affairs in Oakland, Huff might have a year that falls short in statistics. Conversely, the Raiders showed last night Huff will be a LARGE part of what they do on defense. Over the course of a season or seasons the best football players will make the plays. Huff is that guy.

Redraft with tight rosters...you might want to consider holding Huff for a few more weeks but drop him if needed.

Dynasty...Hold or go trade for him. You are going to have to sit on him for a season or two but the production will come.
