Mack Brown stepping down (1 Viewer)

If Texas wants a high integrity 44-years old coach, they should consider Al Golden. He's not an innovative Xs and Os guy, more of a high effort coach, but with the right coordinators, he'd be good. He also a good recruiter. I don't see Texas hiring Golden, but you never know.

BTW, the Hurricanes from 1983 to 2002 may have been the best program ever - 5 national championships with 4 different coaches. And cheated out of a 6th championship. And tons of great NFL players.

UT reporters assuming that means he agreed with removing Mack.

Seemed inevitable...but Mack isn't gone yet.

Mack is not stepping down, and they are not going to fire him. Brown and Saban will be co-head coaches. They're going to give Mack this headset. He will never know the difference.

I believe I've said this before: the Sith Lords who run Texas Football Inc. don't give two ####s about wins and losses, as long as face-painters fill the stands and the merch moves off the shelves.

Oregon might hang a hundred on us.

I posted this in the Saban thread but maybe it's more appropriate here: I don't know much of anything about Chip Brown or UT football, but why is it out of the question that this story evolved over time such that a few days ago, Chip was right about Mack Brown leaving only for fortunes to change in the interim?

Chip Brown just makes stuff up all the time. Look at his tweeting history with all the stuff he posted about conference expansion. I don't think he got one single thing right. He had Notre Dame going to the Big 12, West Va to the SEC, A&M not being allowed to go to the SEC, and many other made up things.

Texas is going to drop from #1 in sales with CLC for the first time in close to a decade...being passed by Alabama. It's not as much a result of huge gains from Alabama as it is losses by Texas. The merch isn't moving off the shelves like it used to.

 
Longhorn network just tweeted that Mack is stepping down. This is just so awesome. Maybe take a couple of plays off Abe?

 
What? I thought Saban decided to return to Alabama when he was told that there wasn't an opening at Texas?

 
Total cluster#### but they got it right in the end. I'm sure we'll hear some ridiculous names over the next week or so, Franklin should be the guy IMO.

 
If he was quitting, he should have done it on Monday. Starting to think he delayed just to ####-block us from getting Saban.

 
Harbaugh, Franklin, Fisher, Strong, Malzahn, Tomlin, Gruden will probably be the names to start...throw in a wild card like Cowher...and my personal choice who ive been touting for months...Mora.

 
@ClayTravisBGID Nick Saban still has no buyout. His contract extension means nothing. Deploy the dump truck of cash, Texas. Break the Internet.

 
Gonna be a crazy month. Texas fans truly believe that their program is miles ahead of everyone else and that their money means that they will get a stud. Maybe so.

But expect everyone to be in play, from nfl guys, to both coaches in the championship game to big coaches like Gruden. Should be fun
