Mad Men on AMC (2 Viewers)

I'm a huge fan of this show, but they needed two hours for that?
You know they have to reestablish stuff at the beginning of every season. I'll agree that it wasn't "great" but for a season premier it was very good. Of course after umpteen months of waiting they could have had the cast do "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" for 2 hours and I would have been happy.
I totally hear you. While I've always loved this show, I think it's inconsistent. I don't think this is a sign of bad things, I just think the show has episodes that just aren't as interesting as their best work.
Yeah, I hate it when that happens.
:lmao:
You're both right: everything this show does is great and there are no weak moments.

I think the point is that obviously there is no way that every episode of a show can be "best".

Can't believe how much I look forward to this show every week. Sunday, in general, is a great night of TV.
Current line-up:8: Game of Thrones

9: Mad Men

10: Breakout Kings

MY DVR is on overload on Sundays: the three above, plus Californication, Shameless, House of Lies, Curb and Eastbound (when in season), and Life's Too Short, which I don't see on tonight's schedule for some reason. Is the season over already??Not to mention that the NFLN is having a Football Follies marathon starting at 7:00. :excited:

HBO's just hammering GoT opening week. EB&D and Life's Too Short are back next week.

I missed one ep. of Life's Too Short. Is there a way to watch full episodes online other than HBO GO?

I'm having a problem logging in there.

Who just got out of that bathtub ... Betty Francis or Haystacks Calhoun?
Is she really that fat now, or is it special effects?!
Actress January Jones, AKA Betty Draper on “Mad Men,” returned to work just seven weeks after the birth of her son and was having a hard time keeping up her energy. So she started eating her own placenta to help, according to People magazine.

Sadly, no.

Tonights episode was

The whole Betty/Cancer thing just sat there. No emotion.

And the whole Rolling Stones subplot was bad.

And the dorky new copywriter was lame

After nearly two years away, pretty weak stuff coming out the gate here.

Why they had Don get married again so quickly I'll never now. No womanizing and no scenes with Don dazzling any clients.

Yeah, I didn't love the episode either. Not a huge fan of the fat Betty plot or the Jew copywriter or Harry gets the munchies. Although it was worth it just for Dawn/Don.

Not sure if that truly was effects to make January Jones that plump in the face even after her real-life pregnancy, but I don't think I'll ever find her that attractive again.

I think a main storyline this season will be depressed Betty. Hopefully it goes somewhere interesting.
Yeah, the path seemed to be set last year when she wasn't happy with the old man. Certainly can see a love triangle between her, Don and Zoobie.

They overdid her fatness, it looked ridiculous.

Good undertones with Henry resenting that she called Dawn and just depressed Betty in general post divorce dealing with Don having a 20 yr old wife. But pretty meh in general.

Seems like they've had slow episodes before that weren't that dull.

I cannot figure out which way they are trying to go. So far it just appears as a program showing the mundane aspects of life and work. Where as before it had an edge to it in regards to the debauchery of Don and crew. The past 2 episodes have just been blah with no real direction.

No way Don and Betty get back together.
Perhaps, but you can't put anything out of the realm of possibility with this show.Clearly Don still cares for her though, as evidenced by his clear concern when Betty called him about her test results.

I don't think they'll get back together. But he cheated on her constantlyky when married, so maybe they'll complete the circle with him cheating with her while married to someone else.

Yeah, the show's been pretty clear that both Megan and Henry have some negative feelings about Don and Betty's continued interactions. But I don't see any love triangles or love rhombuses in the future.

Don and Betty again isn't inconcievble. They're both pretty miserable people. Don's going to tire of megan's youthful energy, if he hasn't already. Getting pissed about the zou bisou's and trying to bail on fire island, for example. Plus, that's the mother of his children. Betty will need to lose the weight though. Don aint playing that. But it's very unlikely. Much more likely is Betty starts taking speed, becomes a bigger raging c u next Tuesday and they fight visciously as Sally and Bobby get into their wrecking #### years.

I read scene as him being concerned that nobody would be able to take care of the kids (Megan couldn't), not that he was genuinely concerned for Betty
