still opportunity for a movie this wayAnd it should have said.....THE END
Now I feel bad for crushing it. Need to stop watching shows drunk
Yes, I think she mentioned it to Stan, right?I thought the Peggy/Stan stuff was a waste of time. As mentioned in here alot, Peggy's last scene should have been when we last saw her at McCann. Maybe the call with Don was needed for the Finale, but we didn't have to see her face neccesarily.
Did Peggy ever tell Joan yes/no?
I'm pretty sure that was Weiner poking fun at other TV network dramas. The phone call was silly, but Peggy finally allowing herself a real relationship with another human was nice.
Actually...I think it was when they showed Joan's phone getting answered...the partner's name wasn't Olson.Yes, I think she mentioned it to Stan, right?I thought the Peggy/Stan stuff was a waste of time. I hated the Peggy/Stan phone call. Really felt tacked on and rushed.
it was Joan's maiden and married last names. She said she needed two names for the door/company to sound legit.Actually...I think it was when they showed Joan's phone getting answered...the partner's name wasn't Olson.Yes, I think she mentioned it to Stan, right?I thought the Peggy/Stan stuff was a waste of time. I disagree.I thought the Peggy/Stan stuff was a waste of time.
That what we are to infer, but I wish we didn't have to infer it...I think Peggy and Stanley have always been good together...that conversation was just bizarreI'd like to think that Don came back to McCann, created the Coke ad,
Fixed.I'd like to think that Don came back to McCann, created the Coke ad, and then Peggy dumped Stan for him.
I guess my gripe is jamming it into the finale. Just seemed out of left field. I felt Peggy was complete. She was what she was. Stan and Peggy will fail, imo.I disagree.I thought the Peggy/Stan stuff was a waste of time.
Like Don's 10 year long quest for happiness Peggy has spent the same amount of time looking for love. Every relationship she's had has failed. I will agree that it did seem somewhat rushed but I liked the stuff between her and Stan.

Mine:Now that Mad Men is history, my updated channel rankings:
#1. AMC
#2. HBO
#3. Showtime
I didn't like the Stan/Peggy angle because it was cheap but I do think they showed a lot of chemistry throughout the series and it was sort of predictable. Mostly in a bad wayI guess my gripe is jamming it into the finale. Just seemed out of left field. I felt Peggy was complete. She was what she was. I disagree. I don't think it was cheap at all. We learned way back when Peggy left to work at CGC that she and Stan had become good friends ("I will have your wig ready then, ma'am").I didn't like the Stan/Peggy angle because it was cheap but I do think they showed a lot of chemistry throughout the series and it was sort of predictable. Top Mad Men Petshow do we rank the Mad Men seasons?
how do we rank the Mad Men characters?
what else can we rank?
somebody please rank something!
Ton of folks were predicting it(not necessarily here) and typically in a non-positive "I really hope they don't do this" kind of way.If it was so predictable...how come nobody predicted it?
Nah, she wasn't really ever looking for love. She thought she was early on with Pete because that's what she was supposed to do. After she got her first promotion, every relationship was something others wanted for her while she just wanted to climb the career ladder.I disagree.I thought the Peggy/Stan stuff was a waste of time.

I didn't care for the ham-handed way they chose to deal with it, and I was hoping that they'd resist the urge to couple them up and just keep them as "platonic close friends"(which I think the writers had pulled off excellently to that point), but I wasn't surprised by the "I love you speeches" at all. I just think they could've done a better job in their delivery.
You haven't read this thread, have you?As an aside, I think it is tremendous that this thread - which dates back to pre-pilot - exists. What a great time capsule of commentary on this show.

Sepinwall alluded to it last week IIRC.
I even recall some back and forth about it being a Sam and Diane thing

...okay, 20% of it is good commentary on the show...40% pissing and moaning....40% Tanner schtick.Would you say it was more Ross and Rachel or Leonard and Penny? That's pretty good.

Just listened again and I don't think that was it.Question for anyone who heard the bell at the end (I missed that): Relative to my theory that he was back at McCann picturing the retreat at that moment, did it sound anything like a typewriter bell?

Me too. At first it was clear that she was such an enigma to Stan that he was like a little boy pulling her pigtails. Then as time went on it was clear he wanted more. The execution may have been abrupt and the phone call angle was corny, but I always thought they were going to end up together. Thought they'd do it sooner, actually.I always thought Stan and Peggy had a thing. That's how I feel too. I just don't buy Peggy and Stan together as a couple but I thought they nailed the scenes for what it's worth. Then again Moss can do no wrong by me on this show.I thought all of the other stories were done very well. I can't find any major faults with them.
I need to digest Don's a little more.
