Man Up, Choose a Light Beer With Taste (1 Viewer)

I can't drink most American beers.

Have a Chimay and you'll never drink American piss again.

The only thing worse than all of the light beers are the crappy beers that people have to put fruit in to taste normal.

:lmao: :lmao: There are like 7000 different delicious, awesome, American beers.
Feel free to grace us with a listing of just five of those beers
Seriously, your web is stronger than I would have ever thought.Dead Guy Ale, Anchor Steam Ale, 90 Schilling, Buffalo Bills Pumpkin Ale, Marble Oatmeal Stout. And Yes I have had Chimay and it is good. But it is not the end all be all. And there are so many really good American beers.

Along this line, I recently 'discovered' New Belgium Brewery. Fat Tire, Might Arrow, Ranger IPA. Great stuff!

Pretty much anything by Ithaca, Captain Lawrence, Sixpoint, Brooklyn, Harpoon (some might disagree there), Pretty Things, Victory, Troegs, Heavy Seas, Terrapin, Cigar City, Bells, Founders, Short's, New Glarus, Surly, Central Waters, Stone, Rogue, The Bruery (although viciously overpriced), Jolly Pumpkin, Great Divide, Oskar Blues, Southern Star, St. Arnold's, Jester King, Freetail, Three Floyds, Half Acre, Goose Island, Sam Adams, Alaskan, Epic, Hill Farmstead, Long Trail, Wolaver's/Otter Creek (ok that's a stretch), Midnight Sun, Sierra Nevada, Smuttynose, Thirsty Dog, Two Brothers, Weyerbacher, Cooperstown, Middle Ages....

 I haven't tried most of these but drink plenty of the ones in Michigan:Bells Two Hearted AleShorts Huma Lupalicious IPAFounders Centennial IPAjust last weekend I had a 22 oz Sierra Nevada Hoptimum that was as tasty as beer can get.

Fat Tire /threadLHUCKS: Chimay? Really? Is that even beer?
I enjoy Fat Tire but my favorite style is a Belgian Dubbel. Chimay Blue, Gulden Draak, Westmalle Trappist, Ommegang Abbey, St. Bernardus Prior, the list goes on and on. Much more potent (and tastier IMO) than a Fat Tire.

I find these commercials even more offensive than the beer. If I owned a bar and my waitress or bartenders talked down to my customers like that they would be fired on the spot.

I don't think anyone has ever answered my question on this subject. What is considered a "good" beer that is widely available? I don't want to have to every store in town to get one.

We're lucky to have such a variety of incredible beers nowadays. I shudder to think what the poor bastards had to choose from in the 70's and 80s (I was underage at the time).

What were the best beers in 1980? I know my old man drank Special Export (tasted skunky to me).

Guinness, Bass, Heinenken, Labatts, and Molson were imported back in 1980 and were probably the best, though I am not a big fan of the latter two. Michelob was considered one of the better US beers back then. Regular Coors was a delicacy east of the Mississippi in the last 70s and early 80s.This is why I consider Jimmy Carter one of the best presidents in my lifetime. It was Carter that signed the bill that made it legal to homebrew beer in the US. That is the main reason why we have so many great American beers now.

Man up? #### that. Drink what you want and #### what everyone else things.

That being said, a lot of the light beers taste very similiar.

:lmao: apparently, someone hasn't ventured out of the Bud Light/Miller Lite/Michelob Light/Coors Light aisle in the grocery store
:lmao: seriously. Dogfish Head alone makes several very serious brews.90min IPA (or 60min if you're scared of hops), MIdas Touch, Raison D'Etre....

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is pretty easy to find nowadays
:goodposting: Dogfishhead in the east can be had pretty easily. Although I don't like Sam Adams stuff that much anymore, the Octoberfest and Winter Lager are still decent.

Exactly. I'm a big fan of plenty of beers mentioned in this thread, and drink them the majority of the time. But Bud Light has a purpose, most notably when you're with some buddies killing a bunch in a bar. If I knocked off 10 IPAs in a bar, not only would I be spending $100, but I'd be ####ting my brains out the next day.
