-- Mangini Says Brady is Warm & Caring --

Fri Sep 15, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com

The Star Ledger reports New York Jets HC Eric Mangini said the comment by Patriots QB Tom Brady that he spent a lot of energy thinking about former Pats holdout WR Deion Branch last week and it might have affected the way he played against the Bills didn't surprise him. Mangini said Brady has always been a "warm, caring and thoughtful person" and he had a relationship with Branch and the receiver's holdout probably did affect him.

Of all the stuff you hear about Mangini calling someone warm and caring is not what you would expect. I think he is taking a shot at him.

yes...he is basically saying he is a big f@gwar of words is underway

I don't see how that is taking a shot at him at all. As far as I know, everyone who has ever worked with Brady has had nothing but good things to say about him.

Brady said himself in an article I read yesterday "I've always been an emotional person." I don't think, even IF Mangini was taking a shot, Brady would be offended.

I may be reading a little to much into this but it seems he is implying Brady is a bit feminine. I was just thinking maybe he is trying to get under his skin prior to their game this weekend. How many football players want to be considered warm and caring and having a relationship with another player.

Examples of warm and caring people.

Grandmothers, mothers and the occasional wife.

Well of course he would be offended...then he'd go have a good cry, take a bubble bath, put on his favorite silk jammies, make some International House of Coffee Suise Mocha, and call Bill for a long chat.

this thread is hilarious.

Imagine this pinned up in the NE locker room. "You see what he said about you, Tom! Let's go get those bastards!"

I still contend he wouldn't be offended. It's like when you tell your wife "wow, hun, you sure did a great job of reorganizing the shelves in a more visually pleasing manner, and it only took you 30 mintes"! and she gives you a big "thanks!" back. It's a win win. She thinks you actually noticed the hard work she thinks she did, and you get to vent to her face about her anality and what a waste of time her chore was, but you get credit for it. Same dynamic is at work here I think.

Unofficial sources told me that additional quotes by Mangini were not made public. "Tom has excellent personal hygiene habits and calls his mother twice a week win or lose." The Jets pressured the beat reporter not to include these comments so as not to further incite the Patriots for Sunday.

If my name was one letter away from being Mangina, I wouldn't dare say anything like this unless it was truely hearfelt.

Definitely. Brady got served, but just wait for him to fire back, saying Mangini is an "effective coach" with "a terrific understanding of the game."IT'S ON!
:lmao: :goodposting:This may be the thread of the week.

Hmm, sorta echoes Brady's own comments last week to the effect that the Branch thing had taken much of his energy away from game prep and had been a distraction.

That Mangini is such a big meanie.

THIS IS JUST A RUMOR:

My friend who mows the lawn for Ben Watson said that Mangini was quoted to say that Watson was "a great tight end that caught everything"

Its on son. :hot: :hot:

yikes, if you are not fishing, i am sorry for you if you think it is an insult or effeminate to be a warm and caring guy.

Now, if this comment... "warm, caring and thoughtful person"...was directed at #### Butkus, Ray Nitzke, Conrad Dobler, Lawrence Taylor, Bill Romanowski, Jack Tatum or Ray Lewis, then I would consider it "fight'in words."

But when it is directed at a charismatic QB, who needs to be a team motivator and glue, then I see it only as sincere praise.

However, I would love to see one of those other guys I mention react to this statement directed at them! :lmao:

I think you're reaching.
I may be reaching that is why I started the thread to get other peoples view point. I just found it an odd comment from a guy like the supposed hardass Mangini.Descriptions of football players you normally see: gamer, aggressive, plays with a mean streak, plays angry etc.Descriptions out of the ordinary: warm, caring, has special relationships with teammates.Brady said it was a distraction not having Branch there, I would hope Brady was pissed off that Branch was holding out not distraught, sad, or longing for him as Mangini made it sound.

also how most of my friends describe their boyfriends/husbands. you seem to be equating terms like tough and hardass with caring and compassionate. they are hardly mutually exclusive. have you not seen the endless fluff pieces on the pre-game shows about various "tough" players soft sides? ;)just because mangini is a hardass as you say, and no friend of the media, does not mean he doesn't like anyone.
