Manly stuff I don't know: Ceiling Fan Lights (1 Viewer)

Ok, installed two ceiling fans the other day. One previously had a fixture there and the other was replacing an older ceiling fan. I go and put the lights in and they are ridiculously not bright. I think maybe that manufacturer provided crappy bulbs and go buy some bright ones at the store. Barely a difference. These are 600 lumin bulbs that a single candle could outshine. I plug the bulb into another candelabra outlet and sure enough it is bright as heck.

So, what the heck did I do to get these to work but not really work? I am confused. I would guess that either I screwed it up and it would not work or I did it right... how did I do a half job on these? Ideas?

I'd double check all of the electrical connections to make sure everything's tight/wired properly

Also could be a defective fan...had that happen once...brand new fan didn't work. Try taking it back and exchanging it

It is the same on BOTH fans that were installed. Which is why I am really confused. And both of the fans work perfectly well.

All fans now come with voltage regulators that limit to something like 190

I would make sure you connected your ground(green) wires.

But the first bulbs came with the fans. The ones I bought were for ceiling fans.... wouldn't the ones that came with it at least by the right watts?

Any chance the fan has a dimmer setting that is turned on?

I would make sure you connected your ground(green) wires.

I think this may be the culprit. My BIL helped me and I think he said that you didn't need to or something.

If that was a chance, I would never admit to it.

Seriously? So I can't put three 75 or four 60 watt bulbs into a fan anymore. WOW. All of our bedrooms have the main room light provided by a ceiling fan.

Depends on the fan. I could be misremembering but I know there was a change with laws and ceiling fans.

Depends on the fan. I could be misremembering but I know there was a change with laws and ceiling fans.
