I like it. If you pick at the 9 hole, you could get the combo as your first two picks. Safe and unspectacular picks. It does put stress on rounds 3 through 7 to get value. You have to take some calculated risks to make this strategy work. I like knowing that the first two picks didn't kill me. But you are definitely hamstrung unless you go get some upside guys who outperform their ADP.
I'd do it if the picks fell a certain way. It would be a nice productive safe combo to own. Good luck!

Well....since there is no such thing as combos, and no such thing as "double points" (please please please dont make me out to be the party pooper and force me to explain this concept, ive had to do that on another board and I respect the minds of the fbg forum and assume most know this already.) so essentially lets just say the debate is taking peyton and then ur top wr available. I think a lot of people are doing this already with the top qbs and wrs. But like another poster said, you need to be on ur game the next 3 rounds.

Guy in my money league last year had Peyton, Wayne, and Clark - I thought they would be his weak link and what caused him to lose in the playoffs, but ultimately it was because the rest of his team choked that week (week 14). Its a risky play because youre behind the 8-ball with RB's, but is a solid start nonetheless.

Indy has a below average offensive line for the run. Peyton Manning should have a very big year....as usual. Reggie should have a solid year but I wouldn't overpay by a 1/2 round or 3/4 of a round to get him just because they play on the same team. You could get some other WR's on the team who should also provide fantasy value. I do not think Wayne is in for a career year here, there are other weapons on the team. The guy to get is Peyton Manning.
And yet to own them would require using your first and second round picks, which mean you draft your RB1 in round 3 or later. So maybe it's not a good idea after all...?

i dont think OP had this in mind, but doesn't anyone think in terms of auction around here? you can have manning, wayne, and a good rb1 you know
To answer the OP, I own the Manning/Wayne combo in a couple of leagues this year already. I have no qualms about putting both these guys on my team. Heck, if I could add Clark to the fold I'd do that also. Absolutely no worries here.
According to the ADP lists here, in PPR Wayne is going in the first and Manning in the late second. In non PPR, both are going early second. So obviously if you could get one in the third, that would be good value, but my understanding of the question was 'If I can get them at their ADP, does that combo offer good value?' and to that I'd suggest that many people would think not... (although many people might also think yes...)

I just hope Wayne is over whatever that little leg injury was in the playoffs. He didn't do much in the Super Bowl and I wondered if that was why.

After submitting my last post, I decided to look up the specifics of Wayne's injury. Here is what usatoday.com had online in early February (before the Super Bowl):
FORT LAUDERDALE -- Colts Pro Bowl WR Reggie Wayne suffered what coach Jim Caldwell called a minor knee injury in Friday's practice, the team's final full practice before Sunday's Super Bowl XLIV against the Saints.
"He just irritated the fat pad in his knee," Caldwell told pool reporter Peter King of Wayne's injury, which occurred with about 20 minutes left in a workout of one hour and five minutes.
The Colts listed Wayne as probable on the injury report.
Wayne has been bothered by the injury all season. The fat pad of the knee, as King reported, is the collection of soft tissue below the kneecap that protects the underlying structure of the knee.
I wonder if this is something that will continue to linger and cause his decline as an elite receiver. As a longtime fan of his, I hope not.

That may be your opinion but it doesn't represent the majority - what does affect drafts vs auctions is that you can't do auctions as well online as in person and the time committments needed to have auction drafts, both of which have more people drafting than playing in auctions.
I'm not high on the value of RB picks available in the late first and early second. I'm looking hard at WR/WR, but, WR/QB could work as well. Nothing wrong with targeting your #1 RB in the 3rd round or later this year.
