Heard during the game today that Manny is in his 7th season with Boston, and he played seven full seasons in Cleveland. So I wanted to take a look at his numbers with the two clubs. Link provided above.
These stats are up to the minute.
AT BATS
CLEVELAND - 3470
BOSTON - 3116
HITS
CLEVELAND - 1086
BOSTON - 983
HOME RUNS
CLEVELAND - 236
BOSTON - 234
RBI
CLEVELAND - 804
BOSTON - 713
By the time he gets another 354 at-bats later this year (which will match his total number of at-bats with the Indians), he will have just about the same number of hits as he did with Cleveland, and he should be pretty close to his RBI totals as well. He figures to be WELL past his Cleveland HR total when the at-bats line up equally, but you have to give the Green Monster some credit for that.
So what have we learned here?
The guy is a crazy consistent raking machine, and he's a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer.
In my next post, I discuss water being wet and Ryan Leaf being a bust.
