MRob got one catch in week one, none in week two or three (not sure if he even played) then led the team in receiving in week four.

I haven't seen any of the Vikes games. What's the story with MRob? On the very surface week four seems to be the abberation but if there was something keeping him down/out the first few weeks then maybe he's a player on the rise?

Any inside sccop from the land o' lakes?

I don't have any inside info, but I do know that MRob was inactive for Week 3. This was a non-injury deactivation and some said he was in the coach's doghouse. Against the Bills it certainly looked like BJohnson had lost some confidence in Williamson and was looking more towards MRob towards the end of the game. This could be beacuse Williamson has had questionable hands throughout the season or that the Bills had Williamson blanketed most of the game. I think it was a little of both. After this week against the Lions we should see who really is the go-to receiver as Brad will be able to throw to whomever he pleases all day long. My money is on Williamson, but MRob could emerge.

I know I posted part of this already, but I'm trying to choose between M-Rob & Travis Taylor for a bye-week filler. Taylor has received more (and consistent) targets, but sounds like that was partially due to the deactivation of M-Rob for Week 3.

I'm tempted to pick up one of these guys due to the fact that #2 WR's have been VERY successful against the poor play of DET #2 DB Jamal Fletcher:

Week 2 -- CHI -- Bernard Berrian 5-89-1

Week 3 -- GB -- Greg Jennings 3-101-1

Week 4 -- STL -- Isaac Bruce 7-100-1 (and Holt nearly had another TD against Fletcher as well - a PI penalty was called near the endzone against Fletcher)

I don't know the MIN offense enough to know if it's a big difference between the #2WR (TT) & #3WR (MRob) as to where they line up offensively, but I do know that the play of DET's Jamal Fletcher (#2 DB) has been POOR over the last few weeks. Any homer insight that can shed light as to who the SHORT TERM or LONG TERM pickup would be?

For the last few years it seems like Robinson has a couple of blowup games, but is quiet for most of the season. Not worth the headache of trying to figure out which week he does well IMO.

I've watched every minute of every Vikes game so far.

Basically from what I've seen from Robinson, the Vikes look to him for about 3 deeper big plays a game. IMO it's kind of an anomaly because he is so slow and that's why TT and Williamson start. However, Robinson has great hands on the deep ball (almost made a great catch for a huge gain last week on top of his leading performance) and will have any size advantage over a nickel corner. Unfortunately, due to his lack of speed and YAC ability he's pretty one dimensional (although I'd still start him over TT). So, when you play him you're really going to be banking on about 2 big plays a game for him to significantly produce on your team (I'm talking 60 yds and a TD type game) and he doesn't play enough that this is a more than 50 percent possibility. Another factor is that Williamson is clearly the most gifted WR and if he'd ever catch the ball better would be thrown to even more.

Woz, do you feel like that would have been a great catch by robinson? Maybe I'm caught up in the importance of that play, but i felt like that is a ball that he should have caught. He got both hands on the ball. It's going to be hard to have any Vikings receivers on your team because they spread it around. I think Williamson gets alot of targets, but he still seems to have the dropsies.

:goodposting: Seems to be the case every year, back from the time when he had that 4 TD game in Baltimore with Anthony Wright at QB.

I remember I picked up robby on the WW in 1999, he led me to a SuperBowl win. I thought he would be the next great NFL WR in the mold of Owens and Randy Moss. Robby had the hands, size and was a speed demon.

What happened??

IIRC, he got hurt the next season, and hasn't quite been the same since.

:blackdot:

Both T. Taylor and M. Robinson are available in my league and the schedule is too good to sit on.

Ball hit both of his hands so if you buy into the adage that any time a WR can get two hands on a ball it should be caught then yeah, he should have had it. But still though, running full speed diving forward with a helmet and pads on is a hard play. I personally think Robinson has the best hands on the team and if anyone would have caught it, he would have. I saw he makes that play 50 percent of the time.
