QB/WR Vick Making Progress

Summary: From Head Coach Nick Saban, "He’s doing a nice job. He’s a good athlete. We’re pleased with his progress. He also played quarterback a couple of times today. I’m sure the multiple roles may not totally enhance his development as a receiver, but he really only spends about two periods a day with the quarterbacks. The rest of the time he’s with the receivers and we’re pleased with the progress that he’s making. He’s had a really good attitude about it all, playing both spots.”

I'm happy to see the guy get a chance. Many of us were young and stupid at one time in our lives. I like that he's working hard. He could have been his brother's lacky and probably get the same amount or more of pay that he's getting now, but he's trying to do something productive.

yeah, but hes making progress at WR, in a recieving corps that will be dominated by chris chambers and randy mcmichael. not to mention ronnie brown will get the ball tons

Please. How many does one person get? He is an idiot off the field (numerous incidents), and is gutless on the field (stepping on an opposing player like a baby).

That's just coachspeak. We're talking practice squad, at best.

Agreed, but if he got his head on straight, he'd be a valuable player for the fins. A poor man's Randle El at best, but still, a fairly valuable player. In FF, he's probably worthless.

Actually, Jesus was very forgiving  Matthew 18

21 Then Peter came and said to Him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?"

22 Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Nice guy, but I wouldn't vote for him as commish. ;)

PFT is actually reporting that "league insiders" are saying that Saban appears to be coddling him despite Vick's bad attitude:

POSTED 8:34 a.m. EDT, June 11, 2006VICK "DOESN'T GIVE A SH-T"?League insiders who are observing the Miami Dolphins tell us that it appears that rookie Marcus Vick "doesn't give a ****," but that Fins coach Nick Saban inexplicably is coddling him.Vick is listed primarily as a receiver but could get action at other positions, including quarterback. Vick arguably performed more effectively as a pocket passer than his brother Michael during the younger Vick's full year as a starter at Virginia Tech. But off-field issues caused Vick not to be drafted. He later participated in a rookie minicamp on a tryout basis with Miami, and was later signed by the Dolphins to a low-risk deal. His chances of making the 53-man roster are thought to be slim. However, there's a feeling that Saban could give him the benefit of the doubt in the hopes of turning Marcus into a guy who can be an Antwaan Randle El/Kordell Stewart (before he started sucking) player.
Of course, it's not like Saban has had poor judgement in the past with coddling players that have demonstrated poor behavior...
