Is Marion Barber worth keeping? I listened to the Audible on thursday, and Sig said he's a RB2 flex this week. Did I hear right?
If that logic worked then the Lions are about to go 50-2 over the next 4 years.Cowboys rushing TD total should skyrocket soon it's way off IMO
Currently, I have Barber and Choice.I'm hanging on to both for two reasons. They may be piss-poor reasons, but . . . First: I have a strong feeling that once the "pressure" of winning it all is off their shoulders (and Lord knows it should be gone already), and they know that the coach is not coming back, this team will start to play to it's potential. Points will come because the game is fun again, and they know that they now have to impress the next boss.Second: In a dynasty or deep keeper league, there's a good chance two of the current Dallas RBs will be gone. I believe that Barber's contract is up after this season. Choice or Jones will emerge as the top dog here or somewhere else. By owning two parts of this horrible situation this year, with enough RB/Flex depth to carry it to 2011, I may just end up with two startable RBs in 2011.Cowboys rushing TD total should skyrocket soon it's way off IMO
I dropped him for Danny Woodhead in a smaller league too.Dropped him for Danny woodhead last week
Depends on how your league size and settings align with the league size/settings of the people dispensing the advice. I work on the assumption that advice applies to a 12 team PPR league unless otherwise stated. He's on waivers in the 10 team league I play in and no one is exactly fighting over him.Dallas is obviously in trouble this year and I predict that if "panic" sets in, they will do what most teams do - go to their "happy place". In the case of the Cowboys, that's "pass, pass and pass some more". If a handful of carries, yards, a couple receptions and the occasional punch-in TD is worth keeping on your team, then keep him.Is Marion Barber worth keeping? He was dropped before Week 6 in my 12-team PPR league with tight rosters. Nobody bid on him this week. I added Donald Brown instead because I think his upside (perhaps only for the short term) is much higher. I'm not seeing any upside with Barber right now. I think he's running hard but he's not getting goal-line looks because the Cowboys aren't getting in that range, his ceiling for carries appears to be about 10 with Jones dominating the touches and prior to this past week he hasn't been utilized consistently in the passing game. I think he has some value because Jones has yet to show he can stay healthy for an entire season and if he does get hurt again than Barber's value will rise, So if I was adding him, it would be because I was a Jones owner and wanted the handcuff or I did not trust Jones to stay healthy or there wasn't a RB with any upside left on the WW.Depends on how your league size and settings align with the league size/settings of the people dispensing the advice. Actually, Parcells didn't think Barber could carry the team on his back. He viewed him as a closer only. And Parcells was right, Barber is not a guy who can carry the load. The Cowboys tried it, and now Jones is basically starting with Barber back to a closer role. They just haven't had much of a lead in the 4th to use Barber much. This is like the 10k time I've thought, is it so wrong to have learned from BP? Let Marion put the team on his back, then go from there with the offense.
When Parcells was there they were shifting from Julius to Barber. Parcells relied on the running game and now it's an afterthought and the horrible rushing TD number isn't surprising because of it. I believe there's a whole mindset that is just good football in showing a determination to run as well.Actually, Parcells didn't think Barber could carry the team on his back. Relying on the running game would be a good thing. But you are way off if you think Parcells was shifting to make Barber the starter over Julius Jones. Barber had 138 carries the first year, 135 the second, and Parcells always viewed him as a part time RB. Julius Jones carries actually increased the second year Barber was there as the closer. It was Phillips who thought Barber could be the full time RB, and Jerry Jones who heard fans saying how much better Barber would be than Julius Jones. Thinking Parcells was behind or even involved in the shift from Jones to Barber is revisionist history. When Parcells was there they were shifting from Julius to Barber.
