Mark Ingram (3 Viewers)

He was the #4 overall RB (PPR) at the time of his injury last year. If that's not RB1 value, I don't know what is...
Why do people pick out one thing you say and stop reading? I clarified my statement farther down. I play him in a standard league. He is still good. I have had him as a keeper for 3 years. He just isn't going to get you home run numbers. He won't win you many weeks but he won't lose them either. He is a dependable, blue collar lunch pail type of player. He isn't Le'veon or David Johnson but he isn't Latavius Murray either. High floor/low ceiling. I hope I have explained my take on him enough so as not to be taken out of context. Please continue with the thread!

Hope it's nothing to worry about.  I dropped Hightower last week to get a fill in TE.  Need to decide on dropping Gates, Ebron or Barnidge to pick Hightower back up.

That is good news and my reminder to maybe trade this guy soon. Last year it went from "oh he missed a practice with a shoulder injury to ### out for the year" in less than 24 hours.

I would love to be able to trade him for a comparable player with a more definitive back-up.

Any ideas?

I think trade questions are the toughest to answer because it depends on so much: league scoring, roster size, starting line-ups, team records, playoff structure, and invidual team need. Ingram has had 1 ok week, 1 bad week and 2 good weeks. Week 4 left a bad taste in the mouth of owners that saw Kuhn score 3 TDs, but more fantasy players without Ingram will just see he had a good game with 100 yards and a TD. If you kind of average the games out, he is probably right around where he was at the start of the season. I would put him in the RB8-12 range.

These RBs are definitely more valuable: DJ, Bell, Zeke, D. Murray, McCoy, Hyde, Gordon.  Those guys are all clear number 1s on their team, they all have a real pedigree and have been doing great this year.

The next group all have at least 1 flaw: Ingram, Gurley, Miller, Freeman, Coleman, Crowell. That is

think it's tough to make a lateral move at the same position unless you just 2 owners just really disagree on the value of a player. I usually prefer doing a package deal: Ingram and Demaryius for Evans. Find a team that has a really elite player but major holes in their line-up and offer them the chance to fill 2 spots with 2 B players for exchange for their 1 A player.

I'd wait until he has a "signature game" - he's been very productive, but his receptions seem to be on the rise. So wait to see if he has a 100+ rushing, 5-6 reception game with 1-2 TDs. Seems like it's coming.

Trouble is that if you're looking to deal a RB for a RB of relatively equal value, your trade partner is going to wonder why. Heck, I'd wonder why. Ingram is healthy (other than the sniffles) and he seems to be getting better every week. Receptions, yards, TDs, all on a positive trend.

You could certainly wait for another big game and try to sell high for a WR, TE or QB, but dealing a RB for a RB is really difficult unless you have a saints homer wearing an Ingram jersey to your draft in your league.

Exactly - you'd have to disguise the deal by doing a 2:2 or 3:3 and slip in Ingram, while getting back a comparable RB.

But if I'm the prospective trade partner there I'd counter without the RBs, given that they're equal value and I'd then be taking on Ingram's injury risk.

Ingram's injury risk is funny. He;s been hurt almost every year, but I honestly don't think people see him as injury prone. I have no explanation as why, but that is my perception. To be fair, the Ingram is injury prone risk is just as real as the Crowell isn't actually good, Miller/Gurley's offense blows and the Coleman/Freeman 2RBs/1 Team risk.

I have Ingram in both of my leagues. Drafted in one and traded for him in the other (as part of a package bringing me Mike Evans, sending away Freeman and 2 other players)...

I don't see him as being particularly risky, other than football is a dangerous sport. Broken bones don't strike me as "injury prone". They happen, they heal. Often stronger than pre-break. Players with chronic soft tissue injuries seem more deserving of the injury prone label.

I'm with you - they all have risks. I'm not looking to deal Ingram. I'm looking forward to his increased productivity as the season goes on. And I'm sure this is going to make an outstanding quote for someone if Ingram goes down with injury.  :lmao:

I was trying to move Ingram in one league and no one wants him because "he's always hurt". While true, he's also been pretty effective when he's healthy. I mean, isn't every player in the league one hit away from being out for the year? Hell, not even a hit, just one wrong cut away from being out for the year.

Seriously - why? Why does Sean Payton hate Ingram?!? First Cadet with 3 poached TDs, now Fleener gets a rushing touchdown.

im sitting there with Thomas, Snead, Ingram and Brees (BYE forced me to roll out all my Saints) and NONE get the TD - what're the odds?!?

i wonder if Ingram slept with Payton'a wife or something. Boggles the mind.

He went a long time without getting any work in the game too.  His usage has been so strange
Exactly - and again, game script seemed to favor him. Saints up what, 21-0? Yeah, that seems like a good time to abandon the run.   :wall:

Im not complaining - had a HUGE day out of Bree's, and to a lesser extent Thomas.

But it seems like the Saints keep letting opponents back into the game, and sometimes running the ball shortens the game,  which helps to prevent giving up big leads.

Strange is the best description for Ingram's usage.

Maybe they are trying to keep him fresh?  I guess I have to keep starting him but would love to have the option to sit him
For a fleeting moment when they were up 21 I thought, "yeah, now run Ingram all day so I can trade him!"

No such luck. For now I think we're stuck with him.

Ingram could be special on another team that actually commits to the run. Sucks.  He's a low end rb2 moving forward until he gives me reason not to believe so.

For those complaining about Peyton's usage of Ingram, Albert Einstein would claim you are insane drafting Ingram expecting anything different than what you got.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

It's the saints. You can't read into it that much. They'll use Ingram plenty in the red zone.  Yesterday's game was a weird flow - they put it all on brees' arm. Not all games will look like this - y'all Ingram owners can put down the razor blades and sleeping pills - it's week 1.
:P
