Mark Zuckerberg Giving Away 99% of His Facebook Stock (1 Viewer)

That still leaves 1% to his daughter. If my math is correct that should still be worth about $450,000,000, right?

Just sent him a solemn plea from my local charity here in Atlanta. We do some unique work in the community and I've seen the same type of model spreading to some of the outlying counties. It's amazing to be affiliated with something like this and see real results.

Good for him, that's awesome.

He stuck his wife's name first on the foundation - Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. She must give up the butt daily

I expect the FB shares to drop dramatically in he next decade, better start getting those donations out quickly

Is he giving the stock to a charity that he runs or selling the stock and giving the cash to that charity that he runs? Hard to tell from article.

I can't even wrap my head around giving away 99% of your fortune to charity and still having $450,000,000 left over.

wow.

Think about how much good you could do by giving away one million dollars to a cause you cared about deeply.

Now repeat that 45,000 times.

This is the greatest thing I've ever heard. Amazing!

I can't wait to see the certificate that he will receive from The Human Fund. That better be some good 20lb cream paper.

Imagine with a $10M donation does for a charity like Chance for Hope. Imagine donating $100M to each of the top 10 cancer charities? And then doing that all time and time again. Then do the same for the charities for other diseases. For the homeless.

You have to imagine that would very quickly change the whole world in very positive ways.

Amazing is right.

true, now wrap your head around the fact that if he donated the entire $45B to help pay down our national debt it would only pay the interest on that debt for roughly 10 weeks.

:X

So he is giving his money to his newly formed charity? I guess thats a good thing. That sounds fishy in all honesty.

Some may see him as a hero, but I have a feeling its just a self absorbed rich guy who stole the idea from someone else laundering his money through a charity under everyones noses and he is being called a hero for it.

Sorry to be the pessimist but it wouldnt be the first time someone used a good cause to do a bad deed.

So lame, he could live so large like a sheik on a mega yacht the rest of his days.. Like wolf of wall street on roids and instead he chooses to work.

It's a slap to the face to working schleps. His dentist dad should've taught him better

He's giving 99% of his shares away.

In other news he voted himself a $50M a year salary and sold off all his options before he made the announcement.

All kidding aside good for him. It's nice to know that the uber rich have no issues giving it away. Gates and Buffet come to mind.

very cool of him but i'd be pretty pissed if i was his daughter. 450 milly is a nice amount but pocket change compared to 45 billion.

Are some of the posts in here for real?
I'm guessing most are standard FFA lets schtick it up. I mean cripes, the guy has a dream life and now he has to show us what a dominant philanthropist he is well? That's next level Dickmitten behavior.

A small portion of the responses are for real. There's never going to be shortage of bitterness, envy, resentment. Life's too short, too sweet, too joyful...I can't even.

If you have people like that IRL, cut them the #### out. Negativity over something magnanimous is worthless behavior.

That Fennis tho. :lmao:
