who knows something about this? any news on him today? i'm sure i'm not the only one hoping for a big game from him this weekend against Indy.....

so.... back to my original question. has anyone heard anything today? for example, whether he practiced? we all know Fri practice is perhaps the best indication of Sun availability...

is that right? someone can go from questionable to not even listed? that seems strange. ESPN reported this morning that he was questionable, so forgive me if i'd love to see a second source, and a report that he practiced fully today....

Hes still questionable. Id like to hear form a Pats homer as well.

Just to add a little more confusion

Boston Globe article

"Injury bugs

Offensive tackle Matt Light (hand) and Maroney (ankle) were added to the injury report as questionable, while Cassel was probable with a right shoulder injury."

Now its an ankle? We need to find out what is going on here....not a bad article about Maroney's returns the last two weeks. Could play NE's Def and Maroney and get double points but just traded for NYG def and hope there will be a lot of jump shots come sunday.

Maroney was at practice today (friday)... Maroney DID practice.

Exactly what Maroney was asked to do in practice is unknown.

As for the "questionable" tag placed on Maroney...

The NFL injury report has specific rules about how/when a player is to be listed.

I don't know the exact formula but it's something along the lines of"

- if a player misses "some" practice time during the week, he must be listed a probable

- if a player misses "a full day of" practice time during the week, he must be listed a questionable

- if a player misses "multiple days of" practice time during the week, he must be listed a doubtful

- if a player "does not" practice during the week, he must be listed a out

the players status on the report is directly related to the amount of practice time he missed.

Maroney missed Thrs. practice and by the letter of the league's laws, must be listed as questionable.

i thought the injury report labels were more designed to reflect playing probability??? is that not the case? 25% - doubtful50% - Q75% - P

he was not on Friday's injury report.
Friday's injury report has not been released by the NFL yet (as of 2:50 PM EST), but he was listed as Questionable on the Thursday injury report. (It is possible that the Patriots have already released their Friday injury report independent of the NFL's report.)

Right. In addition, anyone who misses any part of 11-on-11 team work in practice must be listed separately (in addition to being designated as probable/questionable/doubtful/out).
In theory, but in practice this is a total joke. There are 36 players in the Indy-NE game listed as questionable. According to NFL regulations, 18 of them wont be playing. Heh. :hophead: I hate the injury report, its a step above worthless. The NFL should crack down. Tell NE and Indy they have to bench 9 of those players each. You'll never see something like this happen again.

Sorry Al, but that's not right.Out - OUT. 0% chance of playing.Doubtful - 25% chance.Questionable - 50% chance.Probable - 75% chance.Not listed - 100%.

UPDATE: Injury is not serious, but sexuality in question.

Pats Rb Maroney injury likely not serious

Patriots RB Laurence Maroney, questionable with a reported thigh injury, was seen playing around in the locker room Friday with fullback Heath Evans.

You should expect 97% of the "questionable" players listed on the Pats/Colts injury lists to play. This articlegives an interesting perspective on what is going on here with the two organizations messing around with ehachother.

If CBS Sportsline is right, neither of these is quite right, although my understanding was the same as Aldelgreco's:http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/injuries (scroll to bottom)

PUP - Physically Unable to Perform

IR - Injured Reserve

Out - Definitely will not play

Doubtful - 75 percent chance will not play

Questionable - 50/50 chance of playing

Probable - Virtual certainty of playing

You think the Rocky Mountain News is a better source than CBS? Anyway, the injury reports at all the official teams sites corroborate what I said. Examples:

good find
It's easy to believe the Colts complained about Gillette's turf. Who wouldn't? Since September, the middle of the field has looked like Tony Kornheiser's head. We know the Patriots like it that way, or it would not be that way.

Sorry about that post. As of the time I posted it (@ 8:30 am CST) he was not on the list. Now the same link shows him on the list as questionable.Either way I think it is all part of the Colts/Pats injury report game and I'm pretty sure he will play.

As a Pats fan, I will point out that Belichick likes to use the Injury report as a smoke screen. Brady is *always* on the report because of his shoulder, a minor injury hat happened last year. So believe what you will, and lets hope Maroney does play. Also, some mentioned the poor turf at Gillette Stadium this year. Apparently it has just been resodded, much to the satisfaction of both Pats players and opponents.

Damn, I am thinking about myfantasyleague.com in my local league

Michael Irvin just made him his RB playmaker of the week. Should that make me more or less confident that he'll play today?

Basically, I need to either roll the dice and assume Laurence will be there on MNF, or I sit him down and commit to MoMo tonight. Sounds like Maroney is still a decent play and obviously the upside is high (especially this match-up).

Any breaking updates/news on Maroney's status for tonight. I can still swap him out for Watson or D. Branch up until gametime and would love any info anyone has.

His official status has been updated:Maroney, Laurence - OUT (Polian Assault)
Dude, that was not very funny. I was about 2 seconds away from going to pull Maroney until I saw your lame joke in parenthesis.

It is actually a really cool site. I love all of the extra features like reports, survival pool & pickem. This was some snafu on the Friday morning injury report, but was fixed by Friday afternoon.
