Do this on your phone, right now, it will blow your mind. Tap the Google microphone button and ask, "when can Russell Wilson renegotiate his contract?"

I thought this topic deserved its own poll because there seems to be a good debate on Lynch's value to the Seahawks. From everything that I am reading and hearing, these seem to be the reason Seattle will not renegotiate

  • Money spent at RB would affect their ability to solidify other positions
  • Lynch is already being paid well
  • It sets a bad example to the rest of the team
  • The Seahawks believe the position will be solid with Turbin + Michael
  • Lynch is not a locker room leader like Frank Gore
OverTheCap.com estimated salary space = 8.5 MM. Today's news nugget:

Seahawks GM John Schneider offered more praise for sophomore RB Christine Michael in an interview with the team's website:
Schneider was pleased with Michael for taking "a noticeable step forward this offseason with his work ethic, focus, and maturity." Asked about replacing Marshawn Lynch, who has elected to hold out, Schneider responded "it's just like we had players at different positions, like Brandon Browner and [byron] Maxwell steps up and is ready to go." Michael is the Maxwell to Lynch's Browner. Jul 25 - 2:09 PM

For fantasy, here is the situation at it's core: Captain Skittles owners are assuming the Seahawks will work it out. If you read quotes from the Seahawks managment on this situation, they seem to be pretty trenched on this one. If Lynch believes this is a respect thing, both sides are trenched. Check out the poll questions.

Here is the thing. I felt like I was pooping on the Lynch thread. If you came into the Michael thread, it would be diarrhea everywhere. This thread has a diaper on.

Poll results so far show that nearly everyone thinks Lynch will eventually show up. It also shows that everyone can see the talent if Michael gets an opportunity. 87% think he will be an RB1-RB2 if he is the starter.

According to what I'm reading in other threads, the poor guy is nearly destitute and severely underpaid.

It's appalling that he's being asked to play for the amount of money he signed to play for.

Lynch has no leverage. He's signed to a reasonable deal and, if he is nearly broke, has to play to keep his financial well being upright.

The Seahawks do not lack for solid replacements, either.

He will be in camp within a week. If you can get him for 80 cents on the dollar, do it.

Being a little dramatic here.

NFL can cut players when they like with minimal consequences. Lynch feels like he has some leverage right now, to me it seems he does have the most he is ever going to have with this team.

Not sure what his demands are, they may be unrealistic. It as been said here and by a few other Hawk reporters/bloggers that if the Hawks guarantee his contract through the end of next season then it's all good. If Lynch is asking for more than that I'd be less inclined to take his side.
