Marshawn Lynch (1 Viewer)

Marshawn Lynch has been really hot lately and is still a pretty young guy. I have him on several dynasty leagues and after his past off the field issues I have always tried to trade him but could never find any value that made sense to move him. This leads to the question of what to do with Lynch after this season. What kind of value does he have and do you move him or do you take the approach that he is a young talented RB and hope his past problems are behind him? He is currently RB#7 in my league scoring. I suspect it will once again be tough to get the value of a RB1 out of him but I'm curious if others would be looking to buy/hold/sell and what value he has in their eyes?

I'd be open to moving him off of my team, but likely will not have teams going out of their way looking to aquire him from me. Lynch appears to me to be one of those players that will benefit the team he is currently on more than what others are willing to give up to get him.

I have him in 3 dynasty leagues and plan on keeping him. He's one of those guys who just won't have fair value in trades. He'll be 26 next season, in the prime of his career. To me he's a very good #2 fantasy RB, but I doubt you'd get that kind of value for him because of past inconsistency. So to me he's a hold or buy.

I'm a buyer at RB2 prices. He's young, talented, and has shown that he can be successful as a full time RB (despite playing in two pretty weak offenses). This year proved that there is no shame in losing your job to Fred Jackson.

What's his contract situation? Is he signed for a while?

This is a contract year for him.

They are already trying to ink a long term deal for him in Seattle. It is unlikely he'll sign somewhere else unless Pete is fired. He's the one who pushed for Seattle to trade for him and he's the one behind trying to get him inked right now.

I'd hold for a couple of reasons (assuming he gets a deal signed with Seattle) - one because, as mentioned above, you likely will not get fair trade value in return. And two, because I think next year is the year everything comes together for the Seahawk's offensive line and running game. 2nd year with Tom Cable - Moffitt, Unger, Okung, and Carpenter are showing themselves to be talented young players and Gallery is under contract for a couple more years. If they can all get back on the field for most of next year, I think Lynch could be a top 10 back.

It really sounds like he is a hold or buy if you don't have him. He already is a top 10 RB this year but it sounds like most opinions are placing his value in the RB#2 range.

He's RB6 in non-ppr with a game missed. So, he's already a top 10 back.

I haven't seen any projections for next year - I would assume he's in the 12-15 range but if say he's listed in the top 10 I have no reason to not believe you.

If I can get anything more than RB2 value for him, I am selling.

I don't trust a guy who has been average his whole career, then turns it around in a contract year.

Lynch runs hard, but losing a step will destroy his value. His running style will eventually lead to injury concerns. Turning 26 is no longer considered young for a RB. Seattle has no competition for him and will be wise to find some. It may not come in the form of competition for his job, but he will not be carrying this load long-term. Lynch's talent does not make him immune from RBBCs, what kind of numbers does he put up in one?

I think Lynch is a safe bet for RB2 numbers for the next 2 seasons and value him accordingly.

His success this year has lot to do with getting his weight down. It's very possible that he did it for his contract year and he gets lazy when he get his money but it's more likely he stays this way. The lack of contract is really the biggest hit to his value but once he gets it I'd have no problem valuing him as a low RB1 high RB2 and in a redraft I'd be willing to take him at the end of round 1, beginning of round 2 depending on how he looks in the preseason.
