Will either of these play in the majors in 2010?

Bullpen or actually start some games?

Who do you like better for 2010 and who do you like better for 2010 & beyond?

I think Hellickson is more major league ready, but I think Perez is more filthy and more upside. I had the choice and took Perez, but 2010 results didnt factor into my decision at all.

Perez has better "stuff".

Hellickson has better control of his pitches... but his offerings aren't shabby.

BP 2010 quoted a scout saying Hellickson reminded him of Greg Maddux.

I like Hellickson more over the next 2 or 3 years.

I've never seen either pitch, but I would think that Greg Maddux would be a bad person to compare Hellickson to based on Hellickson's K's per innings. He seems like more a power pitcher based on the stats.

Not sure why they compared him to Maddux. I know he tends to have a very mature and cool demeanor. I don't think it is his "stuff", as I don't think Maddux fastball got up to the 96-97 mph that I've read Hellicksons gets up to. I do know that his fastball has great movement, though I believe it is a sinking fastball whereas maddux tended to have a fastball that came in on the hands of opposing hitters or would paint the corners.Still an interesting comparison for a scout to make. I personally like Hellickson more - but I can see how Perez's upside seems much better and that would to someone disagreeing with me.
