I always get confused whether the netflix shows are officially part of the MCU because they are clearly set in the same world/time period and we even had a netflix character just show up in the most recent MCU movie too.

Sadly you are going to see a SIGNIFICANTLY watered down version of the character on Disney.  D'onofrio absolutely crushed it in the netflix series.

I have a strong feeling that Punisher, Daredevil and other shows like them will be on Hulu like they did with hit-monkey. We'll know for sure when we get Moon Knight next year on how far things will go on Disney+.

That's how the comic crossovers used to work.  It was an interesting formula, right? More engaging, challenges the audience to do some independent research on the characters. If they get interested enough, maybe they seek out the standalone content. 

Maybe not as broadly appealing but will probably drive some deeper fan loyalty a la Star Wars.

They pumped out billion dollar movies by making things accessible to the casual fan. 

When they started on Disney plus they said this stuff doesn't really impact the main storyline.  People watched what if and complained that there were no stakes because none of this mattered (and faws wasn't far behind). And these were the biggest fans.  

So I am really interested to see what they decide to do with the introductions of kang, @Mrs. Rannous house of Harkness, kp, dd, etc.   I didn't read all the marvel comics as a kid and i didn't need to to understand mcu. I didn't think i needed to subscribe to Disney plus to watch the mcu either. 

Now that they moved on from almost all of their most popular characters, do i need to start doing homework to keep up? I'm OK with it if i do but i wonder how that impacts the franchise

I bet these characters will get the necessary backstory in whatever movie they pop up in.  Think of Thanos introduction in Guardians 1.  To me, a non comic nerd, it was a throw away scene where they introduced the major villain of the entire franchise.  But we got a lot more from him as the movies went on.  I also watched all of the Thor movies last, but they handled him fine in the other films.  

 
saw eternals last week , i never read of their comics books so had no knowledge of their stories 
really liked it and looking forward to the sequel 

went to spidey today , one of the best spider man movies 
cant wait for the multiverse MCU  

 
I enjoyed Spiderman today. I am really glad that I had no clue about the plot. A really fun surprise. My complaint is that Dr Strange seemed out of character. I expected better from him.

Agree to an extent.Seemed like if a guy with his powers was going to be in the movie he should have easliy handled whatever conundrums Peter was having. That said, the movie was a blast

No, I just was never into Thor and the way they sold the tone of movies seemed way too serious. I liked them enough once I saw them. 
 

But I do think when my kids are old enough to watch The marvel movies I’ll attempt a chronological viewing.

My understanding was they were always considered "MCU Adjacent".  They referenced events in the MCU with vague terms or pictures behind characters (Newspaper article on a wall talking about the battle of NY).  Will be interesting to see if the backstories or origins are kept from the Netflix versions or they are rewritten with the same actors.

This multiverse crap going on in the movies is going to lose me.

Yea... of the infinite spidermans in the world, just the two featured in previous movies came through a portal.

Repeat for Goblin, for Lizard, for Elctro, for Sandman..............................................

Just a lazy path to be less creative and allow for whatever random ending.  OH LOOK IT IS 20 THORS!

 
Surprised there's so much love in here for The Eternals. It was long and kinda slow. The indecisiveness of the main character, Sersi, was brutal to watch. It seemed like every time a decision was needed, she'd walk away or just be like "I don't know".

And Ikaris....I mean Homelander....

This is definitely a Marvel movie to pass on, imo.

 
My brother was explaining the What If premise to me. Sounds interesting. 

I'm excited to see how they do She-Hulk. That actress from Orphan Black is pretty awesome.

The only reason I subscribed to Netflix was to watch DD. still the best Marvel show.

I loved the movie but my one criticism is the same - it was hard to imagine Strange as such a buffoon.

 
Ep6 lived up to my hopes.  It’s rare to think “I wouldn’t have changed a thing”, yet that’s where this ended.

 the end credits scene, worst one yet 😯

Very satisfied with the conclusion of Hawkeye but there was one small quibble. I just can’t say it out loud yet and the I don’t know how to do the new spoiler tags 

I liked the post credit scene. Made me smile. 

 
Question for those that have seen No Way Home.  My kids are big Marvel fans and have seen all the movies (except Eternals) and we will be going to see NWH soon.  They have not see, or only seen parts of, the Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield movies.  Would they be missing much if they didn't see these movies and should we watch them over the next week or so before seeing NWH or no big deal?  TIA!

I'm not a fan of introducing time travel or multiple realities into any story because suddenly the stakes don't matter as much when a redo is always possible.

Not a big deal (my youngest who is 10 had seen parts of the others movies, I don't know that my 14 or 17 year old had seen them), and they all enjoyed the movies. As @the rover said, a few jokes they may miss and there isn't any major backstory to them added. They even pulled in a pretty good reference to the Tobey Maguire back "injury" from when he was filing his trilogy that I know went way over my kids heads but they thought was just a fun interaction between characters.

I'm hoping to see the movie again as I pulled the dad move as my kid's call it and dozed off for a part of it.

It would mean more if they had seen them, but it's not necessary to watch them before hand.  Knowing who the villains are might be helpful, I wouldn't have known Jamie foxx's electro if I hadn't seen the earier movies.

really looking forward to yelena and Kate working together. I don’t think it’s been confirmed but it’s obvious. 

 
Hawkeye finale was awesome. Almost like a movie for a TV show. I’ll be honest, it’s my favorite Disney+ show so far. I liked it a little more than Wandavision and I really like that.

Not sure I’ll enjoy an Echo show, which I thought someone said was happening in here.

It is. I’ve enjoyed all the shows so far, but of the upcoming ones echoes is the one I’m least excited about. 
though the potential is there, If the last part of today’s show proceeds to follow the comics. 

 
hawk eyes and haile stanfield was pretty awesome i think i liked it even better than wanda but they should have had at least one musical number for stanfield because that lady can sing so bam take that to the bank brohans 

 
I had pretty high expectations for the Hawkeye finale and it came pretty close to meeting them.  Some if it seemed a bit hokey (all of the different "trick arrows") and a little too implausible at times....but we are talking comic book superheroes here.  Still like the entire series at least as much as Wandavision and maybe more (but it has been a while since Wandavision).

Not really a complaint I just like episode 5 better is all.  Episode 5 felt deeper and more meaningful while episode 6 was geared more toward comedy.

I watched the entire end credits scene looking for something meaningful.  **spoiler:  Nope, it was just a really long comedy bit.**

Planning to watch Spider-Man NWH sometime next week with the family.

 
Won't see Eternals or Spiderman until they are streaming, and I am avoiding spoilers, but have seen some things.

Based on the movies and shows that have come out, it seems we may be getting parallel phases happening?  We will have:

  1. Multi-Verse/Time Travel Phase (Kang; Loki; Wanda; Strange; Ant-Man; Agatha)
  2. Space Phase (Secret Invasion; Capt. Marvel; GoG; FF4; Thor?)
  3. Cosmic Phase -- probably overlaps Multi and Space (Eternals; Shang Chi; others and overlap?)
  4. Earth -- more Street Level (Dare Devil; Punisher; Capt. America; Hawkeye; Echo; Black Panther)
