Marvel Cinematic Universe - Fantastic Four - No Homework Required (5 Viewers)

I haven't seen it talked here yet, but I really enjoyed the Marvel Zombies series on D+. Its a continuation of the What If...Zombies episode, and I thought they did a really good job with it. Good storyline and it moved fast enough you didn't get bored. It set up nicely for a second season. It's a quick, fun random character team up that last 4 episodes. Fun watch if you're looking for something to pass the time.

We (our family) have really slacked on the Marvel franchise the last couple of years. We watched Thunderbolts over the past weekend and it was okay. It had some good moments, but also some pretty weird ones for lack of a better word.

Really starting to miss the old days of Marvel. They could bring in a lesser known group of misfits like the Guardians and make a great movie out it. Now they can't even take Captain America and make even a good movie. Not sure if it is writing, the story arc, the acting or all of the above, but the days of counting down until the next Marvel movie coming out and buying tickets for opening weekend are long gone for us.

i think some of it is that we hadnt seen it before it was sort of a new thing and now that we have seen it we place unrealistic expectations on every new version second i also think that they did a better job of one hero movies ramping up to a get the gang together movie now i feel like they hint or introduce new characters to us in the disney shows which is cool but not quite the same all in all though i will keep on watching and keep on enjoying it because man its a good time and i am just happy that they keep on keepin on take that to the bank brochachos

Watched FF last night. Meh. So much about this FF group coming to “our” universe had me waiting for Big G to destroy the planet. But we get a rehash of the Marvell cartoon. At least Galactus wasn’t a cloud.

Yeah. I guess they came to warn us? Weird.

I liked Fantastic Four. More comic book movie than the other movies past Winter Soldier that leaned into trying to be realistic super hero stories. I think the retro-future setting helped with that.

Still not loving the RDJ as Dr. Doom though. I don't know how they land that.

I think it has more to do with how the actors and how they portrayed the characters lead to on screen chemistry and the audience caring about what happened to people. The original avengers and the guardians really had this.

What do you mean? Are you questioning if RDJ can pull off a villain or are you questioning how marvel pulls off hw Iron Man becomes Dr. Doom? I've heard that being speculated but I think they are just seperate characters played by the same actor.

Little of both. Gonna be hard to see him in a marvel movie and not think....Iron Man. Because he was, in my opinion, probably a top 5 casting in Hollywood ever...RDJ is Tony Stark. And Doom is such an important character it's just gonna be weird. For me.

I would like to think that the casting was more so the MCU could try to reestablish itself (it's been lackluster for the past few years) but it's not IMPOSSIBLE for them to try to claim that something happened in space and he didn't really die and now he's Dr. Doom RDJ is just a solid actor, and has been for a long time. Off the top of my head I can't think of any of his movies where he's played a bad guy but I have faith in him. I have less faith that the movie/arc will be good but that's more on Disney than RDJ. We'll see what they do.

It feels like they are not going to touch the Tony Stark we know in this timeline, who will likely stay dead. It appears, from watching FF4, that Doom will be coming from another multiverse timeline into our time line.
